Good morning ladies,

I'm looking for some peace of mind I've been so petrified of the last 2 weeks my mental health is all over place, basically I got told I have a PUL on 23rd April hcg been slowly rising went from 225 298 390 not much but rising, I'm having cramping sometimes awful on one side and been spotting for a while now but not as much, I went for bloods again 2 days ago yesterday the hospital rings me to say over 9 days my hcg has decreased by 51% is this a good thing ? Consultant said to do weekly bloods tests so next draw isn't until 9th may I'm hoping there is light and the end of the tunnel now. I should of been 8 weeks this week 😔

Hi @Lisaaustin90 unfortunately that doesn't sound too good and I'm surprised they've not mentioned miscarriage? I've attached an image of normal ranges of hcg at different weeks. The main thing is that hcg should be increasing, not decreasing during early pregnancy.
If you have any further symptoms of ectopic pregnancy then please get medical advice.

@Uphighseesky
Thank you for your reply, I got told I had a PUL on 23rd April I should of been 6 weeks mothijg seen on ultrasound anywhere hcg was 390 consultant said hcg has gone down 51% over 9 days so said to have weekly bloods..

I have spotting and sometimes cramping not too much just on and off..

I keep panicking myself which makes things 10× worse.

Do you mean good thing as in it’s good that the pregnancy will be ok or good that it’s decreasing naturally and will result in a natural miscarriage rather than needing say surgery or medication etc?

I’m assuming by your last comment and use of past tense that you “should of been” that you are aware that this pregnancy has ended though? So if that is the case, I think the fact your HCG is decreasing is a “good thing” in that you should hopefully miscarry naturally. In my missed miscarriages my HCG continued to rise and stay high and this meant I needed surgery to remove.

@Guant hiya hun sorry I should of made myself clear,

After been told I have a PUL my hcg was rising very slowly started at 225 then 298 then 390 2 days ago I had another blood draw before deciding methotrexate but the hospital rang and said my hcg has decreased by 51% over 9 days so consultant decided to do hcg levels weekly, for 2 weeks all I've done is worry about rupture every little pain every cramp etc..

This does sound similar to my friend's ectopic. Make sure to advocate for yourself if you're not happy or feel something is wrong.
