No baby visible

So after trying for a baby for 2 years, we were just about to start ivf when we found out we are pregnant. I had my period on the 7th of April and peak oh on the 12th. Test positive on the 25th. So with that early ovulation I was really hoping that something would have been visible on an early scan. Lining was nice and thick, scan lady said she could see I had ovulated from my right ovary and there was a corpse luteum with a streak of fluid. I’ve done nothing but cry since we got home.
anyone had any similar stories that were a positive outcome?

If you had your period on 7th April you're less than 4 weeks pregnant? No baby would ever be seen then? Even at 6 weeks you're lucky to see one

AnonWho23 · 03/05/2025 17:58

You can't usually see anything until 6 weeks from your last period or 5 weeks after ovulation. It's too soon to scan. You need to wait until W/C 19th of May at the earliest. I'd probably wait till the week after.

Hopefully, you'll have positive news.

AnonWho23 · 03/05/2025 18:01

When you have ivf they don't scan until you're 7 weeks pregnant.

Spies · 03/05/2025 18:04

I'm not sure why they agreed to scan you if you had a period less than a month ago of course there wouldn't be anything visible. The very earliest early scans are normally 7ish weeks because before then you can't see anything. I would wait and go back towards the end of May.

LuckysDadsHat · 03/05/2025 18:06

The scan place are immoral trying to scan you at less than 4 weeks pregnant. Nothing will be seen then. You need to wait to 7 weeks. Sorry you had this scare and please don't go back to this scanning place again.

Elz1406 · 03/05/2025 18:15

Hi OP, who on earth agreed to scan you so early? It's ridiculously early. So sorry you've had all this worry and upset! It's too early to tell anything either way. Take care of yourself and call your early pregnancy unit to tell them what happened if you need to - they may be able to give you some professional reassurance that nothing is visible at 4 weeks. Xxx

Even with ovulating so early?

When I was going through fertility treatment they would scan me until after 6 weeks and warned me that they might not be able to see anything until at least 8 weeks.

Its too early.

guidedoptionaldestiny · 03/05/2025 18:22

Earliest you would see anything would be a gestational sac around 5 weeks .

ThatTicklishBlueTraybake · 03/05/2025 18:22

They scanned me because I’ve been having periods every two weeks so wasn’t sure what was period and what might have been ovulation.
100% regret going now

When I was under a fertility clinic they wouldn’t scan until 7 weeks. With the dates you’ve given it is way, way too early. Who was it that did this scan?

Elz1406 · 03/05/2025 18:24

Well if you had your peak on the 12th then you likely ovulated around the 13th or 14th which would still mean you're less than 3 weeks since ovulation. That's still really early! Was the scan done privately? Xx

FunnyRaven · 03/05/2025 18:24

Most places do not scan you until 7 weeks. No one would see anything at 4 weeks!

ThatTicklishBlueTraybake · 03/05/2025 18:37

It was private yes

I had a scan at 6 weeks and didn't really see much. Had a rescan at 8 weeks and had lovely heartbeat. It's far too early to scanned!

Sheepsheeps · 03/05/2025 19:01

I went to an EPU at exactly 7 weeks and saw nothing! I was utterly heartbroken. They really weren't fussed and said come back in 2 weeks and now I'm currently sat here breastfeeding her 😊

Lostworlds · 03/05/2025 19:03

I had a scan at 6 weeks for both of my children, the nhs and all private clinics said they would not scan before 6 weeks and would even recommend waiting until 8 weeks.
Sadly there is nothing to see before then and you end up worrying something is wrong.

anonny55 · 03/05/2025 20:59

I didn’t have anything to show on a scan until 6+4. Currently feeding my 9 week Ds. Like you they could see my lining was thickening but told me there was absolutely no signs otherwise of a pregnancy. All went well

ToKittyornottoKitty · 03/05/2025 21:08

You went for the scan way too early to be able to see anything. There’s a reason any decent private place won’t scan before 6-7 weeks OP

houwseevryweekend · 04/05/2025 07:42

Private scan places near me won’t scan until it’s been 2 weeks since your positive test. It’s far far too early to see anything on the scan as you can only see the sac from 5 weeks onward and baby from 6 weeks onward.

PockerMaus · 04/05/2025 17:34

I had a scan around 5/6 weeks and it took ages for the sonographer to find anything (internal scan). She said it was about the size of a poppy seed so teeny tiny even then! I would get a scan in a couple of weeks. All the best 💞

LaTable · 13/05/2025 21:22

Hi @ThatTicklishBlueTraybake
Hope you have a nice update and all is going well?

ThatTicklishBlueTraybake · 14/05/2025 07:22

Went for a rescan and all is good. Saw yolk sack tiny baby and a heartbeat.
morning sickness is really kicking my ass and bloating.
