Hello :)
I am currently 7+3 weeks pregnant. Yesterday we went for a private reassurance scan and discovered we have IDENTICAL TWINS!!! crazy. but super happy.
however I'm now in pure panic mode. Twin A was measuring 7+2 which is right for my LMP. Twin B was measuring slightly smaller at 6+5. they were also sitting further back in the uterus and being slightly covered by Twin A.

Twin A has a heartbeat ❤ Twin B did not 😪

The sonographer told us as to book a EPU appt to check this at a later date.
I have an appt booked for a weeks time.

I just want to see if anyone else has been through this. and what the outcome was. I have done SO much googling and I have seen it said a lot that one twin can very commonly measure smaller, which makes it harder to see the HB. I really dont know how to feel. I know there is a chance Twin B wont be viable. but id just like to see whats happened with other people.

Thanks for reading :) Ive attached a picture of my scan. As you can see Twin B (on the left) is slightly less visible because its further behind Twin A.

I had what was termed a vanishing twin pregnancy. Discovered at my 12 week scan that baby 2 had stopped developing around 7-8 weeks. I suspect if I’d had an early scan I’d have been in this situation. I’d just prepare yourself for that possibility but also for the possibility that it might be fine. Hope all is fine for you ❤️

That sounds very stressful. I haven't any direct experience but just want to wish you well for your next scan.

@thisismyusernamedontyouknow I'm sorry to hear this happened to you. how did you cope with it? did you continue the single pregnancy with sadness of losing one or did you feel ok that you were still giving birth to 1 baby? Im fully prepared for it to be bad news but i am obviously hoping for the best. Ive seen so many mixed stories! i guess ill never know (until the scan) but its just nice to hear stories sometimes haha. either way ive come to the conclusion whatever happens it will be ok! I have 1 healthy baby at least x

Tbh at first I felt quite relieved as I felt I wouldn’t have coped with twins, but as time went on I became sad about it and grieved a little. By the time the baby was born I was completely fine.

I had this and also lost the wee one. It was sad, but I was just so glad to be pregnant. I have had a lot of ivf and loss. So I just focused on the fact that I was having a baby.
