Scared - spotting and small bloody discharge

Hello,

First time being pregnant and a bit concerned.

I haven’t had any pain or heavy bleeding, some very mild cramping and bloating and gas. But when I wiped before I saw a tiny speck of pink blood with normal discharge. 20 minutes later I noticed some specks of bloody discharge in my underwear.

Im now panicking but don’t have a booking appointment until end of May and no number to contact midwife on. Is this normal? Looking for reassurance 😞

Honestly it could go either way.

You can ring EPU at your hospital to get some advise

Some bleeding in early pregnancy can be totally normal, unfortunately there is really nothing that can be done either way other than just wait & see. It sounds like a very small amount of blood so try not to worry x

Ah just saw you are not quite 5 weeks, usually you can’t be referred to EPU until you are 6+ weeks so you’ll have to sit tight but unfortunately there isn’t anything they can do anyway if the pregnancy is going to end in miscarriage. Try not to worry x

So sorry OP that really sucks and is super scary! I had some bleeding (much more than that though) and my local EPU accepted me for a scan at 5 weeks! I would definitely give them a ring asap - don’t bother with midwife or GP, too early for them to provide any service

Bbydidro · 30/04/2025 21:34

I have had the exact same at 4 weeks. I have been really worried about it but spoke to my clinic and the EPU and both have said bleeding is common. My bleed was a week ago today and I have continued to do pregnancy tests every morning to see if my lines fade. So far, I am still getting really strong positives so I feel somewhat reassured that I’m not experiencing a chemical pregnancy. The advice I was given by EPU was to test weekly and contact them again if I had any further bleeding.

I’ve had pretty much the same symptoms as you too… I had no pain, just mild cramping and bloating.

I would call the EPU and get advice yourself. But try not to worry (she says ;) ). Prehaps
you could request for your bloods to be taken to measure you HCG as you’re abit early for a scan.

Pic below is the bleeding I had a week ago.
