Brown discharge

Hi everyone,
hoping to get some reassurance as quite an anxious girly anyways. For my first BFP on Monday (11dpo) since my test lines have been getting darker. I’ve had the lightest brown discharge since 11dpo only when wiping but today it’s become a little bit heavier, still brown though. Anyone had this? Thanks x

I’ve had it in both pregnancies both times fine, the brown discharge usually occurred around when my period was due but it never came.

you will see on this forum tho that it can go either way but I wouldn’t be concerned at the moment.

I had brown discharge from the day I did the positive test. It lasted a few weeks. I’d done ivf and was convinced it meant the worst but the clinic assured me it was normal. All turned out fine!

Happymomoftwo · 30/04/2025 13:01

Oh and many congrats Flowers

Arglefraster · 30/04/2025 13:04

I had this first pregnancy when my first two periods would have been due - she's 16 now but I can still remember how scared I was 💐 I hope it works out as well for you.

Itsafable · 30/04/2025 13:07

My Mum said the same when pregnant with me. She said she was disappointed as had been trying for me and had brown type blood so though oh well I'll try again but. I'm 40 now ha ha

Just to warn you it's 50/50. All you can do is wait, agonising over it doesn't help.
For me it meant a missed m/c , despite loads of people trying to reassure me. My live pgs had no trace of spotting or blood until the show.

I had this in my 2nd pregnancy. Also had a bit of red but all turned out fine.

I’m now 7/8 weeks pregnant and I’ve wiped brown every single day for the last 4 weeks. I’ve had an early scan which showed everything was fine. I’m so bored of it.

I’ve heard that it is very normal.

It does say online it’s super normal but idk I guess it still seems worrying right.

sorry you’ve had it for so long! Did they say what it might be?
so glad everything is fine for you xx

It’s been 11 years, but I think they said it was something to do with progesterone levels. Try not to worry and instead enjoy this special time.

I can’t really remember but all I know is that it is very common to get brown discharge due to all the hormonal changes that are happening. I had it with both my pregnancies and both were fine. Enjoy this precious time, I wish I could have worried less and enjoyed my early pregnancy more. Once they’re moving about and kicking your ribs you worry a little less. Good luck x

I don't mean to rain on your parade, but well meaning people telling me everyone and their dog had experienced it and all was fine actually made it worse when I went for my 12 week scan and it was a mmc. It made me decide to enjoy every pg from thereon in as everything is so up in the air, especially first timester.
Fingers crossed all is well

Sorry to hear you went through this and totally get what you mean. I didn’t realise before but brown spotting is classed as common so I think people were just trying to reassure me . But totally understand your situation xx

It’s looking very positive!

I think you now need to step away from the testing. What will be will be. Nothing you do or don’t do will change the path of your pregnancy. Don’t let tomorrows worries take away the joy of today xx

I had brown discharge and spotting on and off in my first trimester! Was reassured it was normal but still got a scan at 8 weeks, heartbeat detected and baby was fine 😊 just watch it's heaviness and the colour. If it gets heavier, turns red or you get any big clots I would maybe start to worry. I was told brown spotting is just old blood that's been sat in your uterus and it being released as things shift about for baby x

Mine was exactly the same! Got lighter and lighter then it just went away. Definately sounds like you have nothing to worry about 🙂 congratulations! xxx
