Funnelling cervix

I am 32 weeks and have been told that I have a funnelling cervix which measures 31mm. Should I be concerned? Any advice?
The doctor has put me on strict bed rest for the time being...

I think the best thing to do is listen to your doctor and go on to bed rest - they know best! 31mm doesn’t sound too alarming, so try not to worry. Have you got another scan booked to measure your cervix?
Having been on bed rest myself from 26 to 36 weeks (with failed stitch due to incompetent cervix and a new emergency stitch) I can tell you bed rest is very boring! As well as watching TV series on my phone, I played 2 player games whilst lying on my side. Is there someone who can make your meals and bring you drinks?

This is a bit confusing. Closed length of 31mm is pretty normal at this gestation, and the funnel doesn’t mean too much separate from the closed length… was there a reason the scan was done? Are you having symptoms suggestive of preterm labour? if not I honestly wouldn’t be concerned.

Typically it is not evidence based to check cervical length after about 24 weeks in women who don’t have any symptoms. Bed rest also not particularly evidence based and I would argue it could do more harm than good, but all depends on what the full story is. Above poster is right that 25mm and shorter is used as a cut off for “short cervix” but even then it mostly applies only under 24 weeks as it’s normal for the cervix to progressively shorten through the third trimester.

@bizzylizzy87 the OP could have used chatGPT for herself. I think she wanted to chat to humans.
