We went for a private early scan at 7 weeks 3 days and was told no heartbeat of foetal pole. Gestational sac is measuring around 5 weeks. We went to the Early Pregnancy Unit the following day to be told the same findings. Both scans are recorded as 'inconclusive'.

I am trying to keep some positivity but struggling. My periods are regular, and by LMP calculation is correct as I log it in an app. I have another scan booked for a weeks' time which should be definitive. Seeking similar experiences, perhaps some success stroies?

Hi. If you search on this forum, there are at least three threads a week with the same issues/symptoms as yourself. Unfortunately, more often than not, this is not a good sign IF you are 100% sure of your ovulation dates etc.

If you are just basing this off LMP, you could have just ovulated late/implanted late therefore it is just far too early to see anything. Hopefully this is the case for you!

I hope it all works out for you x

Thanks, what words did you search?

I'm sorry, this sounds like a miscarriage as you say your periods are regular and you know how many weeks you should be. This has not happened to me personally but has to a few of my friends and family members. I think it's to rule out a pregnancy that is earlier than expected due to an irregular cycle and for them to be thorough before telling you it's a miscarriage. They will know in a week's time if there has been any growth. A friend of mine was told her sac had grown, but there was no foetus and the next scan they told her it was a blighted ovum. She was measuring 4 weeks but should have been 9.

I’m fully away this may likely be a miscarriage, thank you for the unhelpful reminder

Due to previous losses I had an early scan with my DD. According to my LMP I should of been 7 weeks. I was 5 weeks and there wasn't a heartbeat yet.

Few weeks later she had a heartbeat and I asked how her due date was possible when my LMP was such a date and they said I must of ovulated later in my cycle.

She's 10 now x

@TheNiftyFinch

No need to be rude to the PP. You asked for similar experiences. She gave you one. Not a positive one but sadly quite a common one.
