I don't know what to think

I had a blood test last Thursday that came back today negative for pregnancy. (Around Thursday was also when I had a very light bleed) But for the past three days I have been feeling sick/been sick, had mood swings and no period.

I saw my doctor today to talk about my symptoms and she thinks I'm not pregnant, said that I could have had a early miscarriage then asked me how I was feeling!
Annoyed and pissed off!
She then said that I could take another test on Thursday, but it may be a waste of time.

Why are you pissed off? What more could she possibly do? If your bloods aren't showing that you are pregnant, what do you expect the doctor to do in this instance?

When is your period due?

You either not pregnant (as confirmed by your blood test results) OR it is far too early to detect?

Feeling sick, throwing up and mood swings are not a sure fire way of telling that you are pregnant. I did not have sickness or mood swings and I am pregnant.

Do what the doctor said - give it some time and test again (HCG takes time to increase).

Good luck.

It's late by 8 days

To be fair what else can they do?

thehorsesareallidiots · 28/04/2025 16:37

If you're fully 8 days late and negative for HCG on a blood test, you are almost certainly not pregnant and your symptoms are due to something else.

TeenLifeMum · 28/04/2025 16:40

My hgc reading was wrong, scan showed an empty sac at 6 weeks then 10 days later I went in for them to do a procedure for a missed miscarriage and thankfully they re scanned as there were 2 babies with strong heartbeats. So weird things can happen but it is unlikely.

AliBaliBee1234 · 28/04/2025 16:41

I agree with what the doctor said and did tbh.

What is annoying you about it? That's not a cheeky question it's just to help.

8 days late and a negative test.. I would say it's impossible you're pregnant.

Edit: Forgot to say i've had a chemical pregnancy with a small bleed and my hormones felt a bit out of sorts which made me feel unwell

So its very possible that you ovulated later than expected and implanted later than expected so at the time of the test(s) it isn't registering?

The only way you'll know is with time. So give it until Thursday like she said and test again?

Your period will either make an appearance or you'll have a positive test.

Boggartdreams · 28/04/2025 18:07

I would say either your expected period dates are off and you’re not due on period yet which is why tests aren’t picking it up yet, or unfortunately you’re not pregnant and the symptoms are a coincidence/something else. Sadly you could have implanted initially and it then ended in an early chemical.

Hope you get some answers soon and best luck for next try Flowers

Thanks, that's what I'm going to do. I just wish I knew what was going on with my body.

I just felt very annoyed by the fact that I was feeling very sick, but the doctor wasn't doing anything to help. It would have been nice to have advice on what I could do to feel better.

Sorry you’re feeling sick, but there’s not much they can do to help you during these early stages. Find out whether or not you’re pregnant first, everything else will come after.

The only thing they can do is prescribe anti sickness tablet, which they will do once you’ve confirmed your pregnancy.

good luck!
