Coffee and sickness

I’m 7 weeks pregnant and have started experiencing nausea, which is becoming quite unbearable. I think it may be caused by the morning coffee I’ve been drinking. Is it safe to have one cup of coffee every day, or should I avoid it completely? Does anyone have recommendations for less acidic coffee options?

@OneUniqueGoose - There’s no need to be rude. If you’re unable to offer genuine advice, it’s best not to reply, especially to someone who is going through their first pregnancy and not sure what is going on with them.

Congrats @newbee86!

I’m pregnant for the second time and both times the nausea got worse in week seven so it may just be that? I went off coffee around the same time both times so you may find you’re not fancying it soon anyway. Hope you feel better soon, it’s not nice but it will pass.

One coffee is generally safe. 200mg caffeine per day in pregnancy is the recommended limit, so consider if you're consuming additional caffeine elsewhere in your diet, if not then the one coffee is safe.
However if it's making you sick then makes sense to avoid, no need to add to the challenges of pregnancy sickness. Maybe you'll go back on it once the sickness eases.
Normal to go on and off different things throughout pregnancy depending on how you're feeling.

One coffee a day is fine but it is quite a common smell/taste that women find makes their nausea worse. I couldn’t drink tea or coffee at all from around 6-12 weeks pregnant. You could try something like ginger tea or flavoured water instead
