Hi all I had a dating scan today (private) going by my LMP I should be 7.5 weeks. The scan showed bub at 5 weeks 3 days measuring 2.9mm , yolk sac and intermittent heartbeat which she said wasn’t strong enough to hear. She’s asked me to come back in a week, everything else looks fine and she didn’t seem too concerned. A lot of the posts on here seem to be quite negative experiences when dating 2 weeks behind. Can anyone give me a positive outcome and some hope? My previous cycle was 40 days and one before 37 days and then 40 days so have been irregular the last 3 months. I haven’t also really felt any strong morning sickness like with my previous pregnancies (ds 2 and 4 now) but today I have felt more sicker and boobs are achy! Bit anxious now waiting for the scan next week

With such a long cycle it would be normal to date behind. You tend to ovulate 14 days before the end so I would try not to worry xx

I’ve had two pregnancies like this, one I “gained” 2 weeks at my 12 week scan, he’s now 3, and the other was a MMC at 10 weeks. Sadly there’s no way to say for sure.

Hope you get the outcome you want.

For me it wasn't a good outcome when I dated behind, however when it happened I read many many stories of women it worked out for. I hope things are ok OP

Dates are based on a 28 day cycle. If yours is 40 days you are likely 12 days behind. Seems to match well to me. At what point did you get a positive test?

If your cycle is normally 40 days then you’re not two weeks behind, only two days. Which is nothing at this stage!!

I really, really, REALLY wish the NHS would educate people on this as it causes such needless upset!

Congratulations!

Thank you! Normally my cycles are 34-36 days , last 3 cycles before pregnancy were 40,37,39 and then 32 so I’m praying it’s just that
