I am getting induced on Monday, I will be 39+1 and this is due to a big baby, estimated 8lbs15oz at 37+3 (No GD)
Looking for induction stories and how long it took etc, as I am a FTM who has no clue what to expect🥲
Thanks x

I was induced at 39 weeks, first baby. I had a pessary at 7am, I was having period like cramps and then my waters broke as I was bouncing on an exercise ball at 2pm. Then I had the drip and DD was born at 7.30 pm that night.

I was induced last week. Was induced for other reasons but if useful context I was already in early labour for 30+ hours but only 2cm dilated.

I was put straight on the drip at 9.20am. By 3.30pm I was in active labour (6cm dilated). Baby was born at 10.30pm. I was planning for a water birth but all my friends had recommended going for an epidural if having the drip (versus pessary or gel) and I’m really pleased I did. The induction process itself was really manageable with that.

If it helps, our growth scans consistently showed that he was 97-99th percentile and he was only 8 lbs 4 oz in the end!

Happy to answer any questions. Good luck! X

Induced at 38+2 for stalled growth. Pessary went in at 6pm, taken out at about 7.30pm as contractions were coming too quickly. Waters broken at midnight when I was 2cm and I was holding her 40 mins later! No drip or anything else needed, in fact they spent most of my labour trying to slow it down.
