I can't fit in my normal trousers and my belly is not exactly flat. I must admit to having eaten a fair amount so far as it is the only way to stop me from feeling sick, but I don't usually put weight on this quickly.

Tell me straight, is 9 weeks too early to be developing a bump? Am I just fat?

Well I guess that's a yes then.

I couldn't fit into my trousers at 7 weeks with my PFB!!

FrannyandZooey · 17/05/2008 15:56

I had to change to different clothes pretty early this time
mind you I am absolutely whopping now
I think it is partly fat, partly slack stomach muscles and partly things like your stomach getting pushed out of the way by your uterus - so you aren't seeing a baby bump, more of a food bump - but big deal, you are pg
enjoy the changes

No, you're not!

with my second pregnancy (actually my fourth as two m/c previously) I was in maternity trouseers at 12 weeks.

with this pregnancy, effectively my fifth, I was in them at 9 weeks, and now at 15 weeks I have a very defined bump. someone actually asked me at week 14 how long I had to go....you cam imagine the look on their face when I said 6 months

lackaDAISYcal · 17/05/2008 15:58

and I've actually lost weght...9lbs since i found out I was pregnant, so more on aggregate as baby and stuff must weigh a few pounds by this time!

MrsTittleMouse · 17/05/2008 15:59

I'm on my second and I am HUGE. It was actually really difficult keeping it secret until the dating scan as the bump was so prominent.

TheProvincialLady · 17/05/2008 16:03

Oh gawd, I looked like a whale last time! But at least a thin whale with a large bump. This time I think I am going to "carry all over" in the words of my grandma and anyone else over 50.

Lol at food bump! At the moment I've got food bumps on my buttocks as well as my tummy. But hell, I'm pregnant and that's a good thing apart from the fact that I want to eat frozen pizza and generally feel like I could feel nauseous to olympic standards if I really got in training.

My second Iwas wearing mat clothes at about ten weeks, my third, almost before I'd even tested!
It's because your uterus has stretched before so stretches easier and quicker apparently.
I'm also bigger when carrying boys, but that could just be coincedence.

pootleflump · 17/05/2008 16:24

I'm 9 weeks in on my 3rd and I have a very prominent bump and have done for about 4 weeks now . I'm slim so it's very noticeable there was no way I could hide it from friends as I kept catching them looking.

Minniethemoocher · 17/05/2008 22:04

Now I am worrying....15 weeks with second baby and no sign of bump, can't feel any movement yet either - is this normal for second pregnancies? I know that there is a baby in there somewhere, as I had a 12 week scan, I have a midwife appointment next week - will they be able to find a heartbeat with a doppler?

Thanks! It's just that I keep reading that you show sooner with 2nd baby - I didn't show with DD until 24 weeks either!

Minniethemoocher · 17/05/2008 22:15

PS Maybe it is the pilates exercise that I do, holding it all in!

WendyWeber · 17/05/2008 22:15

It'll be triplets

I am very small normally (5'2" and size 6) so I think any changes show quickly. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it anyway.

I've always been big early - never minded

Minniethemoocher · 18/05/2008 09:30

Starlight Snap! That's me too, small waist, wide hips! Otherwise, average size 14, feel better now!

Indith · 18/05/2008 09:31

nope not shamefully early at all!

Izzywhizzy · 18/05/2008 09:48

I'm 18 weeks on #2 and look HUGE. I look at least 6 months pregnant. And my boons are massive already. Bit depressing really........

I'm 24 weeks with my second and I'm massive! I only had DS 10 months ago so I guess a lot of it is down to that, I've been in maternity clothes since 14 weeks but prior to that left my jeans undone or was too sick to get out of my pj's....

hattyyellow · 20/05/2008 10:33

I'm 9 weeks too and have just accepted reality and put my maternity jeans on - it's so nice to feel comfy! Is it your first pregnancy?

I had twins last time (6lb10 and 7lb1) so my uterus got stretched to oblivion and I doubt ever really recovered!

I think it's partly flab for me as well because I've only felt like stodgy carbs so far.
