Hi, I’ve had a successful rescue cerclage at 20 weeks, waters broke at 36 weeks 5 days. This time 1cm funnelling noted at 14 weeks with 2.8cm cervix and cerclage placed same day. Any success stories when cerclage placed this early? Did you do bed rest?

I did bed rest. My cervix was opening with funnelling on my 20 week scan had a stitch gave birth via section at 36+6. I have a daughter who is 1 Friday xxx

Lots of success stories with cerclage placed at this gestation. I wish I had have had a team who were more competent to have placed mine at that stage.

As PP has said bed rest is key, as well as checks on the cervix. In my subsequent pregnancy I also had fortnightly swabs to check for infections (which can cause the cervix to open prematurely) and was on progesterone throughout as there’s a theory that the progesterone keeps the cervix strong.

Keep going 💪🏼 stay strong xx
