Second Pregnancy Monitoring after Pre-Eclampsia

Hi,

I was just wondering how often people were seen by the midwives/doctors in their second pregnancy if they developed pre-eclampsia in their first? I'm not sure what to expect this time round.

Thank you :)

Usually you'd be seen a little less by the midwives if you're a STM+. For extra monitoring I had the same appointment schedule as a FTM.

I also had a consultant appointment after 20 weeks which was basically to discuss how severe the pre-eclampsia was in my previous pregnancy (mild, developed after 34 weeks), the likelihood of me getting pre-eclampsia again (1 in 6 by her estimate), and what to look out for that would indicate it was developing again (swelling, eye floaties etc.). I was also advised to remain on aspirin and to regularly check my own BP either by buying my own monitor or using free ones in GPs/pharmacies. I was then transferred back to midwifery led care as, by her own admission, there's nothing they could do for me unless I developed pre-eclampsia again.

I had pre-eclampsia in my first pregnancy which led to an urgent induction, crash alarms, haemorrhage, transfusions and all sorts of other dramas.
This time around I am part consultant led, part midwife.
After my 9week booking appointment, i dont have another midwife appointment until I am 28weeks!
I had to chase consultant appointments as nothing had been scheduled.
I had a consultant appointment at 16 weeks, then ill have the 20 week scan, then consultant at 24 weeks, then midwife at 28 weeks.

After this point i dont know what is happening to be honest.
There is a guide in the front of your maternity notes which outlines the expected appointments and whether they can be midwife or consultant. I guess if closer monitoring is needed, it could be every 2 weeks towards the end.
