Geriatrics Due in December 25!

I absolutely ‘loved’ being called a geriatric by my midwife when I was 36 and having my first, she actually said it with a little disdain as she told me all the extra problems* I would have. I do hope I get the same one now I’m 41!!!

got my positive test on Thursday after our 1st month trying and I’ll be 5 weeks today. Any others with me?

*everything was fine apart from blood pressure!

Not due, had the baby, in the midst of it all, but just wanted to wave a tired hello from a fellow geriatric 👋

41 and will give birth in August at the geriatric age of 42 ☺️ my husband is 49. It’s both our first baby 💓

I fall pregnant very easily, no fertility problems conceiving but have had several mc’s due to an immune disorder however now I’m on the right meds so far everything in my pregnancy has gone to plan 🙏 I’m very lucky.

I am high risk and will need a c section but to get to this stage and have a healthy pregnancy and baby (according to all the scans and tests) I am so very grateful.

I don’t feel like a geriatric mum. I know a lot of friends and colleagues having babies in their 40s.

There are a lot of positives to having a baby later x

Ah congratulations! I hope I can manage a tired wave at your stage!

Ah that’s fantastic, I’m so pleased for you both. I must admit I’m glad I was older, I had zero patience in my twenties so I don’t think I’d have taken things in my stride like I do now. I’m planning a c section too, I’m assuming it’ll be suggested anyway due to having a higher bmi etc. here to continued great progress for you!

I tested positive a few weeks ago and am now almost 7 weeks so my due date is also in December. I’m nervously awaiting an early scan on Tuesday due to it being an IVF pregnancy. I’m currently 44 and my first was also a geriatric pregnancy at 41 although I think advanced maternal age was the term used which I actually like better. No major complications with my first but I did have GD ( I have a genetic risk of this as well as the age related risk) and had a section to a breach baby.

PuckyMup · 19/04/2025 21:35

38 and was 5 weeks on Thursday just gone.
Have had some spotting so hopefully 🤞 this sticks around

Lorna198 · 19/04/2025 21:37

@wishIwasonholiday10 yeah I’ve just googled it and seen they’ve changed the term to advanced maternal age, definitely preferable.
Wishing you lots of luck with the scan, a very nervy time, hoping all goes well for you!
