Hello Mumsnetters

i wondered if any of you have had a similar experience and could advise me on what to do.

I have mentioned to my midwife on multiple different occasions from 14 weeks that I would like to discuss my birth options with a consultant regarding C Section. I had an episiotomy for my first birth 10 years ago and I have suffered with incontinence ever since and I’m worried about an anal prolapse. I’m getting a little concerned as I’m now 34 weeks and haven’t heard from a consultant yet. The first midwife I saw said they had put the referral through, however when I mentioned it again to the second midwife I saw, she said there was nothing in my notes about this and the referral had not been put through. So she said she would put it through again and flag it as “urgent”. I’m getting a little worried now, as I’m currently 34 weeks, and after speaking to another midwife to ascertain the status of the referral, the second midwife didn’t put the referral through either. I’m unsure what to do next and with so little time left. Can anyone advise?

It sounds like you need to be more pushy. Contact the ward constantly until you make progress.

I would say it’s time to start getting pushier. They tend to leave the date arranging of an elective late, I think they don’t arrange until 39(?) weeks but if you haven’t even spoken to the consultant to get this decided I would advocate for yourself and say you need things to be moved along now as you’re starting to feel very anxious

Thank you for your responses. I rang the antenatal triage today and spoke to the head midwife on shift. Hopefully progress has been made!
