are you confident you're wearing the right sized bra? perhaps yours is too tight?

Trix11 · 16/05/2008 16:01

I had this a few weeks ago and it was terrible agony especially when sitting down, the baby was breach then. Baby has now turned round and the pain has more or less gone, I am now 37 weeks.

I don't know what it is, but I get it too. I've asked my consultant about it and he's not sure...

I'm 39 weeks now, and it's actually quite painful now (and much more constant rather than intermittent). I've had it, I'd say, from about 30 weeks.

I've found that a looser bra helps (this is better than no bra, IYSWIM), lying with my head back (almost like if you were getting your hair washed at the hairdressers) and raising my hands above my head helps...

FWIW, I haven't had any other problems at all, so I don't think it's serious, IYSWIM, just uncomfortable.

Just read Trix's post: My baby isn't breech and never has been.

wonderstuff · 16/05/2008 16:04

I had it when I was pg, got really bad when I was in the car, no idea what it was but baby 6 mo now and we're both doing great. Is is a really sharp pain?

Lizzer · 16/05/2008 16:07

I thought, but maybe completely wrong, that it was to do with your rib cage softening and expanding as the baby grows, but where i got this idea from i don't know..

I had it too though, ouch

Hello

I get it too, have had it for a couple of weeks and am 35 weeks. Sitting on my bouncy ball helps (maybe I have a better posture then?).

hotCheeseBurns · 17/05/2008 14:48

I had it, couldn't lie down for three days at around 38 weeks. I had to sleep in an armchair, it was horrible. The doctor gave me ibuprofen gel which was useless.

UmmFulaan · 18/05/2008 11:20

Rib flare..it came to me 2 am, thats what it is called?

Tapster · 19/05/2008 15:04

I got it from 17 weeks until the end of the pregnancy I'm afraid. I had 3 nice weeks of pregnancy between 14-17 weeks! I had all sorts of explanations from broken/fractured rib to the rib cage pushing up. I was in agony for alot of my pregnancy. My DD was 9lb 1oz and I'm only 5ft and was a size 8 so I don't know if it was size/position.

It got the stage that I couldn't drive or sit upright on anything. Leaning forward on a bouncy ball did help me too.

It did goimmediately after a gave birth but there is a while to go yet!

gallstones?

Jen4 · 19/05/2008 17:30

I get it too, only in the evenings tho, when I am sat down. My midwife tells me it is the diaphram stretching and possibly bruising.
