Is it normal to obsess as much as this?

Hi everyone. I am 5.5 weeks pregnant and I feel like I am going crazy. It took us 18 months ttc no 1 and now it is all working I just CAN NOT relax. I had a scan today and although everything looked fine apparently, I am now obsessing about the lack of heartbeat. Im so so so worried something will go wrong. Any good advice on how to take my mind of it and get to the 12 week mark sane? thank you

Slightly different circumstances in that I don't seem to have much trouble getting pregnant, just staying that way.

I am feeling very insecure, very worried, and generally down about the whole thing. I think it is only natural to worry though after having had some problems.

I am sure you have been told by the hospital that it is quite normal not to see the heartbeat before 6 weeks, sometimes it is up to 8 weeks before you can see it beating.

It is a long ol' road to the 12 weeks stage, and I hate to say it, but the worry doesn't stop there either! All part of becoming a mum, i.e. get's you in good practise for the worry the child will cause you for the next erm... life time...!

RE the heartbeat yes, they did say was totally normal at the clinic. Of course, that hasnt stopped me fretting all day! I used to be so relaxed, I feel like the whole "baby thing" has turned me into a totally different person.

It's totally normal. Have a look at some of the early ante-natal threads (I'm on the September one). We totally obsessed for the first 12 weeks.

It is totally normal - I am 11 weeks and a nervous wreck, I seem to spend most of the day in the loo checking my knickers! Would love to be able to relax and enjoy being pregnant. Hate feeling sick and tired, but worry even more if I feel OK for a day!

yes, i never thought i'd be relieved to feel overwhelmed with nausea/heartburn/exhaustion/heat... but every so often i feel perfectly fine for a couple of hours and wind up totally freaked out. (also, i can't believe that i feel this rubbish so soon)
