False positive with ovarian cyst?

So I've taken a Clearblue early pregnancy test, 5 days before my period. It was positive.

The same thing happened last month but I got my period on schedule. I thought I'd had one of those very early miscarriages and figured that at least it's a good sign that something is happening.

However, reading on their website they say that sometimes rare types of ovarian cysts can produce a false positive. I've got a large cyst on one ovary.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Is it likely that it's a false positive?

Honestly anything is possible at this point, can be a false positive, or maybe you are just pregnant. Also never fully rely on having a period, the odd person still has there's when pregnant. Can also be chemical pregencies as you mentioned.

Re check later, even if you get your period this time; do a test just after. If it's positive again maybe see a Dr just to check. You can always try there digital tests they seem to work very well.

Otherwise I know it's hard, I have PCOS and struggled for years. I was so desperate to get a positive I kept taking them early and over taking tests. That can cause a whole different kind of stress.

I have cysts on both ovaries, I never got a false positive. It can happen as they suggest. But I eventually fell pregnant, after six months without a period. And now I have a lovely baby boy, just keep positive.

Thanks for the encouragement and the answer. I've actually taken 2 tests now, one positive and one negative. I haven't been TTC for very long yet but I'll drive myself mad at this rate, so will aim to only test after a missed period from now on.

Congratulations on your baby boy, so pleased for you ❤️
