Pregnant after miscarriage without period

So, I recently discovered I’m pregnant again with a very dark positive ! On February 1st, I had a miscarriage(8 weeks), followed by a SMM on February 7th. Since then I haven’t had a period, but I had a negative test on March 18th (which was an evening wee). Would a midwife refer for an early scan to determine dates, or is it better to book a private scan first?

In my experience no they won't refer your for an early scan . They used my miscarriage date as lmp and had to wait for 12 week scan .

Book a private for peace of mind but the NHS won't use it for anything.
Also what pp said, they will use your last bleed which will be the miscarriage.
Then you will have you're regular 8-10 week viability scan (if that's their routine) or your 12 week dating scan
Unless ofcourse you are bleeding or cramping in which case epu will see you sooner.

I am sorry for your loss.
This happened to me and my GP did want to send me for a dating scan but as I had been through quite a lot with regards to hospitals etc I refused, especially since we had DTD once so I knew the date of conception.
I had scans at 12 and 20 weeks privately as I couldn't face going to the dept in my local hospital as it was atatched to The EPAU where I had been treated quite badly. The scans agreed with my date so my GP/Consultant worked out my due date for that and DD was born the day before.

Sorry for your loss.😘

Mine is a slightly different scenario, I have irregular cycles, I tested positive on 21st March and because my LMP was 30th Dec and I’d had a negative test in Feb, I was referred for an NHS scan to be dated asap and I went on 25th March (so 4 days later). They said it was just in case I was further on that we thought. I knew in my head I wasn’t but they said they needed to know. So I guess it might depend how your trust and area work.

I had a miscarriage in December and got a positive pregnancy test in Feb without a period.
I had two miscarriages last year so I phoned the epu for advice on anything I could do and I qualified for reassurance scans in their rainbow room. They got me in to have my HCG measured to estimate when it would be a good time to scan me. My levels came back over 100k so they scanned me the next day finding I was already over 8 weeks pregnant! They prescribed progesterone.
I spoke to my midwife whilst I was waiting for my HCG results. She said normally they use the date of the miscarriage as lmp but as the epu had offered to scan me she would hold off doing my booking appointment until I had the scan. She then used the scan date to give me an estimated lmp about 2 weeks after my miscarriage for my dating scan.
I'm not 16 weeks and everything seems to be going ok!

If they take the miscarriage bleed to determine dates you would already be 12 weeks. Call and see what they say, if they give you a data too late for your comfort then schedule a private scan as well.
