Did anyone else have a strong intuition on gender before knowing?

I am only 10 weeks pregnant but since the day I found out I have had this overwhelming gut instinct I’m having a boy. To the point I actually have to remind myself sometimes there is every chance I am not lol.
Has anyone else experienced this before, were you right or in for a surprise?
Just to add I am completely non biased and have no preference - lucky enough to already have one of each! But the funny thing is I had this exact feeling with my first, who was a boy (even remember driving to the gender scan with my husband saying we’re just going for them to confirm it’s a boy not to tell us what we’re having). With my second I had no real gut feeling at all, we ended up with our beautiful girl!

Obviously I know there’s no real 100% way of knowing and no science to this. I’m just asking for a bit of fun I find it so intriguing 😊 Do you think there’s something to a mothers instinct?

Yes... I was absolutely convinced my daughter was a boy... And my son was a a girl

Also don't ask me for lottery predictions...ever

boxoffoxes · 13/04/2025 01:33

Yes, and I was correct. Told DH at about 6 weeks that we were having a girl, I never had any uncertainty in my mind.

Uppitymuppity · 13/04/2025 02:16

Yes, I didn't really know with dc1, but with dc2 and 3 I knew it was a ds

DramaAlpaca · 13/04/2025 02:45

I was absolutely, completely certain all three times.

I was utterly wrong, all three times Grin

thecatislying · 13/04/2025 02:50

I absolutely knew I was having a boy. Felt it in my bones. I didn't 'have a feeling' - I knew.

I was wrong 😅

My old Nanna used to predict the sex of family babies and she was "usually right". I reckon she was right about 50% of the time!

AHBM2022 · 13/04/2025 03:08

I had a deep feeling it was a girl, my partner was hoping I was wrong 😂 our ultrasound lady said “do you have a gut feeling what the gender is?” I said “yes, girl” she said, “most mums are right”. And then confirmed it was a girl 2 minutes later 😂

TwinklyNight · 13/04/2025 03:41

No, I had no idea until they were born.

ThisFluentBiscuit · 13/04/2025 03:56

I don't really believe in this, because you have a fifty percent chance of getting it right, which is very high! And if you are right, then you'll see it as your intuition being correct rather than the fact that there were only two choices!

ServantoftheBones · 13/04/2025 04:05

Yep I knew straight away when I got the
positive test result the day my period was expected but hadn’t come. Gender scan at 17 weeks confirmed it. And yep, DD is now 13.

Other posters have said they were wrong. Don’t come down so hard. Remember that miscarriage is always a factor. Unfortunately then mothers have to guess what their baby was. I speak from experience.

Yes with dreams and guesses I think you're right. However for me, my guesses were more scientific due to family hv and then lack of it with number 2 lol

Amyjade2022 · 13/04/2025 06:19

Loved reading all these comments thank you!

Like I say I know it’s just a bit of fun and there’s a 50% chance you’ll be right anyway.
Its just so strange I’ve had this feeling with boys but not with my daughter. I plan to find out at 15 weeks will let you know if I am actually Mystic Meg or not 😂

JustAnInchident · 13/04/2025 06:22

With my son, I ‘knew’ from early on that he was a boy, absolutely no one could’ve told me otherwise… apart from the sonographer perhaps! As it was, we didn’t ask and looked away at the relevant points of the scans. It was a strange feeling, albeit I expect part of it was that if I’d had to have chosen, I probably would’ve chosen to have a boy, although would’ve been deliriously happy either way after a long fertility struggle.
With my daughter, I did not have a single clue.

Comeoutside · 13/04/2025 06:31

I was utterly convinced with my first from conception, I called my bump he and chose a name ready and everything.

I was wrong!

Neweverything25 · 13/04/2025 06:39

Yes, although I started having some doubts after asking not to tell us the gender at the 20 week scan. But I still went ahead with choosing a name and buying some clothes that I could:t use for my baby as I had it wrong. Anyway, I was happier with the outcome despite not having a name and having to give away the lovely brand new outfits. Whatever you have, all the best!

SErunner · 13/04/2025 06:55

Yes both times and was right both times (girl then boy). But realistically you’ve got a 50% chance of being right anyway so it’s not surprising lots of people are!

TheIceBear · 13/04/2025 07:00

I’m pregnant with my second and I’d a feeling it was a boy and I was right but I don’t believe in this stuff at all. Reason I thought it was a boy is cos I’ve had 2 previous boy pregnancies , I already think if I had another it’d be a boy again ! 50 percent of the time people are going to be right so that’s why people believe this .

NW3Lady · 13/04/2025 07:06

Honestly no, not really. I’ve had two boys and a girl. The pregnancies were all similar.

Roseyposeysuposey · 13/04/2025 07:23

Yes. Wrong both times!! 🤣

ByDreamyMintNewt · 13/04/2025 07:28

Yep, thought it was a girl, dreamt about a little girl, had girl 'symptoms'... It was a boy!

Myfamiliescleaner · 13/04/2025 07:31

My first I was expecting a girl; because we haven’t had a boy born into the family for 30 years, it became a thing in our family to joke about the first once to birth a boy being the chosen one 😂

I did indeed have a girl. My second pregnancy I had exactly the same symptoms, nothing felt different physically but I just knew it was going to be a boy. I just had an inkling. Indeed it was a boy; huge shock for my family! I don’t know what triggered the ‘knowing’ I just did.

Lostworlds · 13/04/2025 07:34

I felt like I knew both times right away.
I couldn’t pick a boys name I liked and only spoke about girl names to my dh when I was pregnant with my daughter.
same with my son, I felt like the moment I found out I was pregnant I just jnew he was a little boy.

Sandylittleknees · 13/04/2025 07:45

Yes. I was wrong.

MockTheGeek · 13/04/2025 12:20

Amyjade2022 · 12/04/2025 21:23

Oh wow that’s amazing! What gave it away did you have certain symptoms with either gender? Or really was just gut instinct?

I knew what sex the babies were like I knew I was pregnant. It was just obvious to me. There are no symptom differences between the pregnancies, that’s old wives tales. All pregnancies are different and it has nothing to do with the sex of the baby.

My OH would roll his eyes as I’d say, good news, I’m pregnant and it’s a girl/boy and I was always right. When we later “officially” found out the sexes at their post mortems, births or scans he was annoyed I was right every time.

dontforgetme · 13/04/2025 12:23

Yes both times I was so sure, and so wrong 😂
