Maternity sick pay

Hi, I am a first time mum so everything is new to me. I have not spoken to my Human Resources department yet. I work in a Morrisons factory and not sure about my rights for maternity pay. I have been with the company for four years and have looked online but all a bit confusing.

Can anyone please help me understand how the maternity pay works. I am a bit worried about the finances of being pregnant to be honest. I have read some information but not sure if it is right or not.

If anyone can give me information then I would be very grateful

You should be entitled to maternity pay with that length of service
it may well only be statutory
Some companies may offer enhanced benefits so check your employment contract and staff handbook for how it works at your company

How many weeks pregnant are you?

first thing is to obviously look at your work contract and see what it specifies. Probably statutory maternity pay and leave. Then you can look on the government website and read in full details

Are you asking about maternity or sick pay as they are different things?

You'll be likely to get statutory maternity pay which is 90% of pay for 6 weeks and then £187 until 39 weeks

I’ve previously worked for Morrisons. Unless something has changed since I left (within the last 5 years), their maternity package was actually surprisingly good. The staff handbook should be accessible via the staff portal so you can check.
