I've not long had my glucose drink, and I'm just waiting the 120 minutes until my next blood test.

Anyone who was diagnosed with gestational diabetes, did you find out quickly that you had it? Within days? A week? X

I was told at my next midwife appointment, which I think was only a week or so after. I recall being a bit blindsided by the result as I expected it to take longer.

A couple of days later. I had just baked cookies as I assumed I was in the clear but no such luck.

I had a phone call a few days later then an appointment with the gd nurse at the hospital a week later. Sadly, I was one of the unlucky ones whose gd doesn’t respond to dietary changes. I took metformin from 32 weeks and was induced early at 38 weeks (given a sliding glucose drip during labour). All was fine in the end and not had any problems with my blood sugars since.

I was called the next day and told it was positive. I ended up on insulin as despite going keto I just couldn’t control sugar levels with diet, was induced at 37 and a half weeks as DD was measuring big.

I was told that if I was diagnosed with it that I would hear by 4pm the following day. I did not get a phone call, and then about 4 days later I received confirmation in the post that I didn't have it. Although this is my second pregnancy and had it with my first, so I'm expecting to develop it at some point in this pregnancy!

Three days after the gtt test I assumed I was fine by that point because they had not called me. I got a text from the hospital with a diabetes appointment for a week later. I called the midwife up to ask my results and she said ‘oh has no one called you yet?’ So that’s how I found out, by a random text appointment. I wasn’t fully sure though just from the text because I was also waiting to talk to an endocrinologist about my thyroid and they are within the same department. Plus the midwife said they would call if I had it and they never did.

I had my (negative) results by phonecall at 4pm the same day after having my test 8:30-10:30 that morning
