Am I losing my mind? False negatives/cryptic pregnancy?

Okay so I feel totally crazy and maybe I should see my GP but I don't want to seem like a nutcase so just looking for advice/validation on if I should make an appointment.

I am trans (he/him) and have been on testosterone for years, but I know several guys who got pregnant on T so it's definitely possible. I had unprotected sex about 25 weeks ago in October 2024, tested about 4 weeks later in November and it was negative. I have not had sex since. As a separate decision, I also stopped taking my testosterone in October 2024 with the intent to wait for my cycle to come back so I could get pregnant. Since then, I have not had a period. I have gained weight in my belly, been very emotional, extremely fatigued, had a few more headaches and backaches than usual, etc. but because of the negative pregnancy test in November, I assumed it was all from just readjusting to an estrogen dominant hormone situation. I literally never even questioned it. But about four days ago I started feeling the strangest fluttering twitching feeling in my belly and I've never felt anything like it before. Its been coming every evening since then when I lay on the couch after being on the go most of the day. Last night it was such a strong feeling I could feel it with my hand on the outside of my belly just to the left of my belly button. It freaked me out enough that I went and bought another pregnancy test, which also came back negative but then I made the mistake of googling it and apparently it's not impossible for them to be false negatives this late in the game, but it's still super rare so I don't want to make a whole thing out of nothing and embarass myself. Does anyone know any way to counteract the hook effect with home tests? Is it worth going to my GP or should I trust the home tests?

The best way to counteract the hook effect is diluting your urine.

Dilute it 3:1 and test. Otherwise id go and get a private scan done! That or you can go to your hospital and they might be able to scan you? Judging by your dates, if you were pregnant, you would be very far along - probably 25/26 weeks by now.

Thank you for the tip! Im going to run out and buy another test. When you say 3:1 do you mean 3 parts urine 1 part water or the other way round?

Other way round. More water than urine. Order a bunch of easy @ home pregnancy tests off amazon as its cheaper.. you can slowly dilute the urine yourself maybe. Start off as 2:1 and increase if no results.

@Twy9 I would see a GP ASAP anyway - you'd usually have had all kinds of blood tests and scans done by now and would be seeing a midwife every few weeks after 25 weeks. Some of the tests are for you, some for baby.

I'd get an GP appointment, ask them to do a pregnancy test for you and then you're in the system and they're ready to go if it comes back positive. 😊

(Not to sound ignorant, but I reckon they'd let you have a test done through GP seeing as your recent medical history/hormone situation is a deviation from cis experience AND because you're likely to be quite far along. I may be wrong!)

Good luck 🍀
