Sorry for the TMI photos. I was at the GP last week and they prescribed me 5 days of antibiotics due to suspected infection, GP did a swab but nothing abnormal came back from that which is good. The first photo was before I started the antibiotics, the second photo is today, after I finished the meds about 3 days ago. Has anyone had this? I’m calling the doctors tomorrow again but didn’t expect the antibiotics to not do anything, especially not make it worse!

im allergic to penicillin and also breastfeeding so finding an antibiotic I could take was difficult so I’m worried that I might have to stop BF to take a different one as my baby won’t take a bottle! Thanks in advance ladies

Oof, that looks very painful! Certainly by the photos it looks a bit worse in the second one. I think most people are going to see the same thing which is get it checked out as soon as you possibly can. I think I'd try and be seen today. I hope you get it sorted really soon! X

It doesn’t look infected yet but borderline. Mine was the same. I was prescribed fusidic acid

Sorry was meant to say the cream really helped. Try and keep it dry as much as possible (I know that’s easier said than done though) I put a pad there and my overhang held it in place 😆

It’s surprisingly not that painful! A bit tender if anything, I feel great in myself which is good! It’s so hard to keep it aired out as I’m still in nappies 😂 I’ve put an e-consult in to my GP so hopefully I’ll hear back soon! Thank you both so much x

Glad it's not that painful and you're feeling well! I think any change in that, fever etc get to a&e but hopefully you can get it sorted with the doc :). I also am allergic to penicillin and share the pain of trying to get the right antibiotics for perinatal!!

Your pics look like mine for ages before that area then calmed down and returned to normal colour.

Oh OP, not the start you needed to your newborn bubble 😢 it looks a little weepy, but I’m not sure if that means infected. Try airing it for multiple times a day… I know sooo much easier said than done. But at least it’ll give it more chance to heal 🥰 keep us updated xx
