Hi, just joined this forum. I have fibromyalgia, anxiety and severe insomnia. I found out I’m pregnant last week and am overwhelmed and worried about the medicines I’m on. Been on tramadol for five years, zopiclone ,, promethazine, on and off melatonin, venlafaxine. I have reduced to 1 50mg of tramadol per day. But am really struggling with the lack of sleep, I’ve been trying to sleep on promethazine alone and I can’t sleep. I have appt this Friday , re meds. Then it will be nearly two weeks since I’ve found out, wish I could have the medication review asap. Any advice would be great , this is my first pregnancy. I don’t want to do anything wrong , but I really do need to sleep. So what should I do? Thank you x

So I can understand you being anxious. Friday isn't too far away now.

If you need advice in the meantime I'd go to a pharmacy and ask to speak to a pharmacist confidentially.

They will advise you which medications you should stop immediately, which you should start to reduce right now and which you should continue to take at a normal dose until you have seen your GP.

I know it is awful not to sleep ( I have fibromyalgia too) but my advice would be to try and reduce the anxiety around it if you can.

I tend to listen to talking books, do breathing and relaxation exercises and reassure myself that even if I don't actually sleep my body will be resting.

I’m just throwing this out there as something I read on the net recently - there seems to be link between fibromyalgia and low collagen levels. Maybe get stuck into some bone broth down the track? It also helps with sleep, at least it has helped me
