Hey! At my 28 week appointment I was given iron tablets (200mg once a day) - I was just sent the prescription and no explanation. On my badger app it’s says my ferritin level is 4. Upon googling this looks outrageously low?

Should I have been offered an infusion? Or will these tablets do the trick? I’ve also upped my iron intake through diet.

any advice or even if you let me know your ferritin level would be helpful! Thanks.

Tablets should work. In my first pregnancy my ferritin was 8. Took the tablets and then by the time I had delivered my iron levels were normal.
take the tablets with a glass of orange juice to increase absorption and no tea/milk/dairy within 2 hours as those inhibit absorption

How are you feeling? My iron was very low during pregnancy (I’m not sure of the numbers) and it made me feel atrocious. I had an iron infusion and it was magical - I had more energy than a teenager at 8 months!

I felt truly horrific weeks 25-28 then as soon as I had my tablets for a week I feel like a new woman! Honestly. Magic.

annoying as I wish I’d felt bad at 24 weeks and knew to ask for them then before it got bad but I had no idea and felt great at 24 weeks. But very happy things are so much better now!!!
