What are the chances of two pregnancy tests being positive and them both being false?

Hi all. DH and I have been TTC since January. According to my period tracker I am only 8, MAYBE 9 days post ovulation so still very early. I wasn't planning to test until AF was due but caved and took a first response yesterday and got a definite second line. However I have read about FRER being notorious for indents/evap lines so didn't believe it. I took another test today with first morning urine and again, a definite second, albeit faint, line that popped up within the time frame.

But surely it's too early? I don't want to get my hopes up if they are indeed evaps 🤣 first pic is yesterday's test, second today's.

Thank you

I can't see anything, I'd wait and test again on Wednesday to allow any hcg to double.

Thank you, yeah MN ruins the quality and you can't see it in the pictures but it's definitely there in real life! Guess I'm just going to have to wait 🤣

Fingers crossed!

Honestly you would do better to relax. Pregnancy is a long haul. I hope you have been successful but try to chill out in the meantime.

Msrivia · 07/04/2025 06:23

I've had a very faint line at 9dpo before. Retesting in 1-2 days is a good idea. False positives aren't very common but sadly chemical pregnancies are. Fingers crossed for you!

cryinglaughing · 07/04/2025 06:26

I can't see any lines.
Try not to rush the process 🤷🏻‍♀️

As far as I know pregnancy tests don’t give false positives but can give false negatives if you test too early. I would buy one of the digital clear blue tests that actually say pregnant or not pregnant. Then you know. Guessing whether I could or couldn’t see a pink line drove me mad.

photostoogood · 07/04/2025 06:27

I can see the lines op but I don’t think they have any colour to them

SummerDaysOnTheWay · 07/04/2025 06:28

There’s only one line op.

eurochick · 07/04/2025 06:30

I can see faint lines on both tests. I would be pretty confident you are pregnant.

apples24 · 07/04/2025 06:30

Can see the lines and they look like my very early positives were. Hope they stick and not chemical.

I never found FRER having issues with evap lines. Found the blue coloured tests much worse.

Dairymilkisminging · 07/04/2025 06:41

I see lines aswell. Looks very similar to mine 10 dpo. Test again in a few days and it'll be getting darker. On the day of your period you can use the word one.

Uphighseesky · 07/04/2025 06:42

@DownWithCremeEggs also I'm not in agreement at all with your username 😂How rude to creme eggs. Send the delicious things my way 😆

I can see lines but it’s hard to tell if they have colour. I’ve had FRERs with horrible intent lines in the past. So I’d wait a couple of days and try again just in case.

There was people that told me mine was definitely a line (despite the fact I knew there wasn’t any colour to it). I was then told it must have been a chemical. It wasn’t. I took that test at 7am. Had a HCG blood test at 10am which was absolutely negative. I was never pregnant.

It came to very quickly but was definitely an indent and that was all. I stopped testing early after this one and just used digitals if I was late.

Thank you! Wow yes I'd havd said that was positive! That's crazy. I'm definitely going to wait a few days and then test again.

I have 7 years of ttc behind me (and 2 kids, 6 pregnancies). I've had evaps on first response. I can see a line on yours. The difference between the real and evaps is the colour. If it's got some pink in it then I'd hope it is correct. I can see a line on your photos but can't tell on the colour front. Good luck.

Puppupandaway · 07/04/2025 11:39

I can see the lines, but you are very early to test. Why don’t you wait until you are due your period and just enjoy this special time of possibly being pregnant. I know it’s hard but it’s better to wait and have a definite line than be stuck in limbo. I also second you getting a clear blue test which actually says the words, no chance of misunderstanding then. Best of luck x

Took another test today, what are we thinking? 😆

There is a line there for sure 😀
Congratulations!

Puppupandaway · 08/04/2025 18:33

Congratulations!! Get yourself the clear blue ones so you can see the magical ‘pregnant’ on the stick.

user2848502016 · 08/04/2025 19:16

Definitely positive

Silsatrip · 08/04/2025 19:18

Definitely a line that increased in strength the next day. 🤞 it sticks

AnnieJack21 · 08/04/2025 19:36

Congratulations!! Def a line :-)

photostoogood · 09/04/2025 06:49

Congratulations op!!!

Dueanamechange2025 · 09/04/2025 06:55

The last one looks positive to me, the first two that while I could see the line it was colourless and I wouldn’t have trusted that.

Congratulations!
