38+3 and my bump has disappeared?

I'm 38+3 and my bump has majorly disappeared?! Can't even tell that I'm pregnant when sitting down and only looking about 18 weeks when standing.

I've had a lot of Braxton Hicks but nothing that has went anywhere.

My first birth was an induction so I don't really know what im looking out for.

It's obviously dropped but to almost disappear? Baby is harder to feel and has been quite a lazy baby throughout so would love reassuring but don't want to waste EOU time if it's something trivial.

If you have noticed an apparent difference in the frequency of movement I would go and get it checked out, better to be safe than sorry.

Most likely baby has just dropped ready for their entrance to the world, however it does sound like you are worried as you cannot feel baby as much. I would suggest giving your midwife/maternity hospital a ring and just discuss your fears - even if it turns out that everything is fine they would still rather check on you and baby.

For your own piece of mind give them a call! They will want you to! I constantly bothered midwives over trivial things and they never made me feel silly for it, even though everything was fine, they said better to check.

This happened to me. Please call maternity. My baby’s 5 weeks now and here safely but if your feeling Any difference at all in movements GET CHECKED! Rather be safe x

Aismixx · 05/04/2025 20:46

@anonny55 did you need induction?

I have had 6 kids with various issues in pregnancy and no one has ever made me feel that I was wasting their time. Every time I was assured that it is always to get checked.

No I wasn’t induced as I had an elective section booked for 39+3 anyway and they only did them one day a week in my hospital with no space to bring it ahead. I went in to get a ctg monitoring every other day instead. You can always decline induction if you don’t want one :)

I’d get checked in case you’ve lost your waters and not noticed - I ended up with an emergency c section at 42weeks and when they cut me open baby was bone dry. I’ve no idea when or where they went. He had an infection as a result and we had to be on antibiotics for a few days (fine now but could have been nasty)
