Brown discharge, dark brown clot, no heartbeat 7 weeks abdominal scan

Hi,
So going by the date of my last period I should be 9 weeks, but in real time it's more like 7 weeks, I had a private scan two weeks ago and it showed I was around 5.5 weeks. Yesterday I had a small bit of brown discharge, more noticeable this morning when I wiped, so I went to the EPU to get checked, a urine sample was taken, a swab was taken, a pelvic exam was done and an abdominal scan, no internal scan was done. When I got home a passed a dark brown clot, I've had no discharge since. The abdominal scan didn't show a heartbeat and now I'm really worried and got no reassurance. Has this happened to anyone else, should I go back and look for an internal scan?

I’m so sorry but it doesn’t sound like it’s going to be good news, in your shoes I’d be preparing myself to miscarry. What did EPU say?

I’m really sorry but if there’s no heartbeat two weeks on (7weeks+) from your last one when you were 5.5 then this pregnancy likely isn’t viable (I’m surprised they didn’t do a transvaginal one to confirm a heartbeat) - did the EPAU not talk to you about this and next steps with potential miscarriage? Sending you a big hug, I’ve had 3 losses so know how hard this is x

Sorry this is happening OP. Did EPU say what the next steps are? I’d think you’d get a rescan in a couple of weeks time and bloods done for HCG level.

Have they given you a follow up?

I had a scan which showed no heartbeat (I should have been over 20 weeks) and I'm afraid it wasn't good news, although I'd already suspected that. The dark brown clot also sounds like old blood. But you will hear from the medics soon enough. Until then, try to keep calm..What will be, will be.

I went back a second time this evening and saw another doctor, you are right I'm afraid it's a miscarriage. :-(

Sorry to hear that - but it's quite common. Hope everything goes well next time - it probably will!

It was hard news to take, but glad I know now. It's just pity I had to make a second trip to EPU in the same day, when I could have been told the news on my first trip. Live and learn, it wasn't meant to be, hopefully next time. I knew in my gut things weren't right this morning, that's my advice for anyone else going through something similar, don't ignore things, go with your gut feeling, __if things don't feel right.

So sorry to hear this. I hope you’re OK.

I’m so sorry OP, look after yourself Flowers
