What did baby's first movements feel like to you?

I'm almost 19 weeks and getting nervous that I've not felt any "flutters" despite having a posterior placenta.

Sometimes I think I feel...something but other times I think it's in my head.

What did the first movements feel like to you? Fluttery, or something else?

More like “pops” in the beginning like I’d drank a fizzy drink when I hadn’t or as if someone was flicking me from the inside.

then it turned in to more noticeable thumps before full on swishing kicks and rolls

Felt like bubbles in my stomach at first. Then little taps and then the lovely organ jabbing😂

SomethingDifferentBloomed · 04/04/2025 15:25

Like a bubble popping against my stomach, then it progressed to feeling like a fish was swimming around in there, before it eventually became proper kicks.

Started off as bubbles / waves. Only four weeks later did I feel an actual kick! Even now at 23 weeks they’re very gentle and can easily be missed if I’m busy

With my son, I felt a big, unmistakable boot to the front of my belly at 15 weeks on the dot. After that, I could feel him consistently if I laid down on my back for a few minutes. It felt like someone flicking my insides with a rubber band. I had a posterior placenta. By 18 weeks, you could see him moving my belly and my husband could feel him from the outside. Sadly, we lost him at 19 weeks.

In my current pregnancy, I felt the first tiny movement at 15+2, but had to concentrate really, really hard for it. Since then, throughout the last week, I’ve noticed what feels like the odd little pops or flutters occasionally whilst sitting up on the sofa or at my desk. It never really felt like this last time. Very, very subtle and more gentle than my son’s movements ever were. A few nights ago, I did feel quite a solid wriggle, but none more since. Placenta this time is fundal apparently.

Like I had a butterfly flapping its wings inside of me. Or like the feeling if you flutter your eyelashes onto your hand.

Also I’ve had 4 pregnancies - one I felt the baby really early but another baby I didn’t feel until after the 20 week scan. So I wouldn’t panic if you haven’t felt anything yet at 19 weeks.

Like the tiniest little heartbeat or like someone tapping very gentle from inside my tummy.

I don’t think I felt anything until much later, I had a friend at work who was a couple of weeks ahead of me and told me what it felt like, and I would spend ages sitting in the loo at work willing the feeling and getting cross whenever someone banged the door. I think it was closer to 21 weeks and then just like pops as others have said.

Fullcircle90 · 04/04/2025 23:25

Like butterflies

SophieRules · 05/04/2025 14:12

Faint, brief spasms

Sesame2011 · 05/04/2025 17:52

First movements to me felt like a bubble popping inside my stomach. Very mild and subtle and usually busy when it happened so made me question if it was a movement. I was around 21 weeks when it started. I'm 27 weeks now and the kicks are undeniable 😀

clhsgirl · 05/04/2025 20:39

Like others have said, mine was like little bubbles popping low down in my tummy from around 19 weeks.
