we have been given a high risk 1 in 19 chance of down syndrome, scan was perfectly fine. Papp a and nt was completely fine but hcg was 0.57 which is lower than should be. Any body else had anything similar?

Were there other factors? I didn't think a low hcg was a marker for Down Syndrome, usually the hcg is higher.

I was given a 1 in 6 chance of my daughter having Down Syndrome due to a very high NT and my age (I was 38). She doesn't have it. Have you heard of the NIPT test? I had that done. Suddenly the chances went from 1 in 6 to 1 in over 10,000 or something after the blood test.

I had a 1 in 13 chance of DS, had the NIPT test and it came back low risk and my daughter doesn’t have it. I had a love Papp A which contributed to the high risk. It was a very worrying few days waiting for the test results so thinking of you

no other factors as far as we know. This is why we are quite confused with it. Nipt test has been done just awaiting results

I’m currently waiting for my NIPT results after receiving a 1 in 4 chance for Down syndrome from the initial screening. We had a detailed scan at the fetal medicine unit, which showed no additional concerns apart from a slightly raised NT measurement of 2.9. The consultant reassured us that, based on this, the NIPT is likely to come back as low risk. My HCG was slightly elevated, and my PAPP-A was at the lower end of the normal range. Just hoping the consultant is right.

1 in 19 extrapolates to about 5% doesn't it? I appreciate that isn't infinitesimal but if there were a 5% chance of rain, you wouldn't be bothered about your umbrella.

I know it's really hard but try not to worry. Hopefully you'll get the results soon.

I had a 1 in 18 chance due to high HCG and low pap-a, the NT was 3 but NIPT came back low risk. I know it's so stressful and worrying but try and remember the odds are in your favour and these stats have been determined by an algorithm.

@Alwayscoffeefirst I was on a thread with a poster who had a 1 in 3 chance and got a low risk result.

Hoping the time passes quick for you

I have had my results from my 12 week scan and given the odds 1 in 25 my baby will have Down syndrome, low PIPPA at 0.26 and high hcg at 3.77 my NT was normal at 1.7 , we’ve just had the NIPT blood test waiting for results might take over a week to come back, has anyone had similar results , Very worried with my results had previous misscarrages and a ectopic and I’m only 26
