4d scan booked - is it worth buying a dvd?

Morning,
After much debate my DH & I have decided to get a 4d scan and have just booked one for next saturday. We've booked it somewhere you can pick and chose which bits you want and were wondering if it's worth paying for a dvd. The dvd will be edited to just show the good bits (about 9 min long), but I was wondering - does anyone every bother watching this again afterwards? We're def going to get lots of pictures and are really looking forward to seeing bean. I just have pregnancy brain - as part of me thinks you may as well get it whilst you are there.....

PS If it helps the dvd will cost £70, but money isn't too much of an issue at the mo, it's more the principle of buying something you're not going to use.

I had one done, i had the CD rom and the DVD. Tbh i found the dvd to be a waste of money really, i have watched it once since ds was born (21mths) and for the money it isn't really worth it imo.

The CD rom is the best thing, i got a disc with about 60 pics on, and the pics are great, have a couple in my profile if you want to take a peek, i had mine done at 30 weeks, as i think you get better pics later on.

We've had a non-edited DVD both times (so 20-2 minutes or so). Our parents (well, TBH, our mothers) really liked watching them, and I think the DCs will be interested when they are older. It didn't cost much more than the options without DVD, though.

We've gone for a place that has lots of pacakges, but to be honest I don't think they save much money (instead you just end up with stuff you wouldn't have bought anyway, like a photoframe!) Plus the packaages all include growth scans and sexing, which I don't think we need as our 20 weeks scan was fine.

If you do it sep then I think we can get a cd of jpeg files and the scan for £115. I haven't asked how many photos you get on the jpeg file though - it's a good point pucca - if I got as many as you did I'd be delighted.

justjules we are getting it done at Cocoon at the London Ultrasound Centre(near Marylebone) as a couple of people on here really recommended it.

£95 for appt
£70 for edited dvd
£5 per photo
£20 for jpeg files
£30 for sexing
£50 for growth scan

The packages are:
bronze - £160 - 1 photo, jpegs, picture frame, growth scan, gender id
silver - £170 as above plus extra photo
gold - £240 as above but 3 photos and a dvd
platinum - £270 as above but 4 photos and a ipod file

You see then I end up thinking that for an extra £45 (bronze package) we can get the growth scan and sexing plus a printed photo (I'm a sucker for a 'bargain')

Hi Pregnancy1 i had it all when i went to have my 4D scan and i can honestly say that i haven't looked at the DVD since. To be totally honest i was quite disappointed at the quality of the scan as it was nowhere near as good as you see it advertised, but....it is still a lovely thing to have and alto you may not look at it your DC might want to have it when there older.

I've also only watched my DVD once, but it was great showing family and friends. I am glad we did it though if only for something to show the little one when she's older...

We had one with dd and it was fab! Got the dvd and have watched it quite a few times, esp whilst still preg with her. If nothing else it was worth it for her 2 brothers to keep asking for and to show family. They all borrowed it and were amazed, esp pil who took a copy too. Hope you enjoy your scan

I had a 4d scan with dd, and whilst I was pregnant, I loved looking at the DVD and the pictures. However, since she was born, I can't say I've ever looked at them.

TBH though, I think they are a nice momento for her when she is older, unless she thinks its a bit gross. I'll always be glad we've got them.

If you're going for the scan anyway, my view was 'go the whole hog'! DH didn't necessarily agree, but I talked him round.

Hi, I think it depends on what the baby actually does during the scan! With DD1 we bought the dvd as she was awake during the scan, moved a lot and pulled faces. Last weekend with this DD2 we decided not to buy the dvd as she was asleep during the whole thing so it wasn't really worth it. We just took all the pictures as a jpeg-file. My advice is decide after the scan.

Buy the way, we have never(!) watched the dvd from DD1's scan, either. But it must be here somewhere...

This maybe a little late as not sure you will check this before you go, but i am glad we got a dvd with our 4d scan, although you try and choose the best photos there will be something that you miss, and although i have only watched it a couple of times, its nice to have to show family and friends, and you cannot recreate a yawn, or baby searching for his thumb to put in his mouth on a picture, i guess it depends on what you see on your scan and how active baby is. My dvd was also not edited so got the whole 20 odd minutes. hope you get lots of very clear pictures and lo behaving and showing off for the camera!!

Our DVD is great and our family and friends have loved watching it. It's lovely seeing her do a massive yawn and nuzzeling into the placenta, things you cant capture on a photo.

I would say your prices are rather expensive though. We got ours done at Baby Premier on Harley street and it cost £145 for th scan, gender ID, a few print outs and the DVD

We had a 4d san done last weekend.

Paid £130 and that included the dvd, cd of images and a few print outs.

This was our second attempt at the scan as the first time i didnt have the required depth of amniotic fluid needed for the scan and baby was buried in my pelvis. Thankfully the guy didnt charge us the first time.

This attempt the fluid levels were fine but baby was laying right under my placenta so photos werent as clear as they could of been.

The dvd is fab to watch and everytime i do i spot something i didnt before. On the DVD baby is rubbing its eyes, opening and closing its eyes, poking out its tongue,yawning and trying to suck its thumb but kept missing! - Something that wouldnt be captured on a photo.

Yes its expensive but def a keepsake and the family love it. Great bonding experience too.

Im having a scan next saturday a 4d scan and it's 90pounds for 30min which think includes the dvd-or you pay a little extra. Im not too fussed if you don'e get allot on the dvd, if you get at least some minutes surely its worth treasuring and they can see themselves inside, when they get older, that be the amazing thin

i don't know if i am pg, NA, in limbo with it all, had a weird period that only lasts 2 days, so i did that test yesterday but not sure if there was a line or not.

oh i could see a very faint one so thought you were. get one of those digital ones then you'll know for sure.
