my midwife told me to start taking 2 75mg aspirins daily and i’ve accidentally taken 2 300mg tablets without reading the box
properly. do i need to call someone?? i’m really worried as had 2 miscarriages previously and don’t want to do anything to hurt baby :((

I posted about this yesterday (I’m 9 weeks). I took 300 when I was meant to take 75. That should be ok cos some people take 150 and 300 is only double that.

If you’ve taken two 300mg tablets then that’s a very high dose just in general. I’d probably say to call your early pregnancy unit to be safe. Aspirin is mostly dangerous in trimester 3 so you still should be ok at just 6 weeks xx

my early pregnancy unit is closed, i’ve given 111 a call and they said they’ll call me back at some point. do you think normal triage would be able to help because i’m so early?? xx

I’m really not sure I’m afraid. I hope someone will be along to answer that. Aspirin is absorbed very fast so whatever impact there could have been would have already happened so in a way, there’s nothing you can do now. At six weeks, you won’t have a placenta yet so that’s very protective for your baby; they’re not absorbing everything you are xx

i gave them a call and the midwife said this once they think it will be okay but to make sure i’m taking the correct dose going forward, pregnancy makes you just worry sick about everything doesn’t it! thank you for your help xx

Oh I’m so glad! Yes, it’s an incredibly nerve wracking time and it’s very natural to worry. I hope you can relax and enjoy your pregnancy now xx
