23 weeks pregnant blurred vision

Hey guys, I’m currently 23+2 and so far this pregnancy has been straightforward and easy. Something really weird happened half an hour ago though. My vision suddenly got really blurry, it was so bad that I couldn’t even walk straight I had to sit down. It lasted around 5 mins and even right now my vision isn’t perfect but it’s a lot better than it was before. This was so weird and scary, it’s never happened before, I was worried about pre-eclampsia but every time I check my blood pressure it’s either normal or slightly low. I called triage, they told me to call GP or go to A&E, they couldn’t even tell me if this is serious or not. Has this happened to anyone else before in pregnancy? Does it sound serious or normal? Thank you

Hope you’re following 111’s advice and going to a&e (seeing as it’s a Sunday so GP won’t be available). Do not mess around with possible preeclampsia. Hope all’s well.

I’m a midwife, please go get checked out immediately. It might be an isolated incident of no further concern but there are serious issues that need to be checked for and ruled out and not all of them are pre-eclampsia.

You’re in the right place so try to focus on staying calm, drinking plenty of water (the headache could be from stress or dehydration) and allowing the health care staff to do their thing. They should do a urine dip, full set of observations (BP, temp, pulse), blood test depending on the results of those, and a thorough check of you and baby. Have you got someone with you?

You did the right thing going in. Symtoms of Pre eclampsia can come on quite quickly. Could be something else entirely, but always safer to check it out.

Try not to stress op, you’re doing the right thing by getting checked. Could be something as simple as a hormonal migraine but you know you need to get checked over.
Sending good wishes.

Thank you so much. It could be dehydration even though I’m drinking a lot of water, because I’ve had diarrhea which has been quite bad since the last 5-6 days too. My BP is normal, they took a urine sample and have done a blood test too just now. My husband is with me
