Are these actually useful? I know they look nice and cute idea but are they practical? Is a standard chair better?

I personally found a nice high back chair with a foot stool more comfortable. I have a standard rocking chair in my house anyway and started out with that, and just didn't find it the best when breastfeeding. I rathered my feet up on the foot stool and didnt like the rocking motion. Id imagine its personal preference. You could try some out in the shops before buying and see what's comfortable to you.

We have the wing chair strandmon from ikea. It’s been nearly 5 years and great from feeding to stories

I wouldn’t get a rocking chair. Ds used to crawl around the floor when I sat on the chair and I would have been terrified of swashing his hand on rocker! Or him alone just climbing around it and trapping something

Would second the comment about the ikea one. So roomy, my toddler calls it 'the big chair' and yesterday we took a nap on it together (no judgement please, pregnant again!).

Hey OP, I’ve got one. I bought one as it was ex display in Next. Love the look of it and it’s very comfortable but we could have definitely managed not having it. It was hardly used at all when DD was newborn. I thought I would feed her in the nursery each time but you quickly realise that’s not practical in the middle of the night and it’s much easier to sit up in bed and feed, and wakes baby up less too :-)

Now she’s a bit older we read to her in that chair and sometimes I feed her in it. Buy one if you want, but don’t feel like you must have it. Baby Bjorn bouncer for baby however - that you will use!

DM put a rocking chair in her spare room for when we go and stay, and I find it really difficult to get in and out of with a baby in my arms. We didn't have space in our nursery for the Strandmom but we had an Ikea Poang and it has a little bit of bounce, which helps with the rocking. The arms are a bit low, but I stacked them with pillows and worked well.
