Can you buy JUST a pram anywhere???

I posted another thread about prams/pushchairs last week and some of you very helpful ladies really opened my eyes.

The one I was looking at had a car seat instead of a lie-flat bit and I've since found out it's not recommended to have a little baby in a car seat for more than two hours. I really don't want to be timing myself when I go anywhere.

So I thought I would look into getting a pram. But all I seem to be able to see are carrycot attachments for existing pushchairs.

Is it possible to buy a pram that actually comes with wheels? What I would like to do is buy the pushchair part later, which seems sensible to me as it will be that which baby needs later.

Buying it all at once seems a jolly big outlay. I'd like to use the extra months to save up again for the next bit!

I don't have time for a link but go on the toys r us website on the babies r us bit i'm sure there was a build your own pram bit where you could buy the carrycot first then get the seat later

I think you can buy the Mutsy in seperates, and Toys 'R' Us does a Bebecar one that you can do it with.

TBH though, you will save money buying the buggy with a seperate carrycot bit together.

there are SHEDLOADS on ebay but IMO your best option is to start looking in your local paper, they are always stuffed with baby things. A friend locally got a magnificent full size old-style pram via the local paper which she could tuck the baby, all the stuff for a day out, and about 3 days' shopping into. I always wish I had got a pram instead of a useless travel system so IMO you are on the right track!

I bought seperates - a from birth pushchair, a car seat and a second hand pushchair.

The idea was that the puschair would be for the bus, and the pram for walking to town with its big basket. I got it for a tenner from a car boot - it was 10 years old - but the only time I used it I pulled a muscle trying to manouvre it! However my SIL loves it as she had a similar one with her DD. (If you can collect from Bromsgrove its yours for free!)

Also, I don't drive but get lifts from friends and am often happy to walk / get the bus one way, but can't because of the lack of car seat so the travel system aspect would be nice at times!

Thanks everyone for your advice. Found a lovely one very close to me on ebay, got everything I wanted and it was cheap too.

Picking it up on Sunday! Thanks again!
