Safe Omega-3 intake in Early Pregnancy (week 3+)

Hey moms! ❤️

I’m currently 3+ weeks pregnant and just informed my GP, but I haven’t seen a midwife yet. I know omega-3 is important for fetal brain development, but I’m unsure how much is safe to take at this stage.

Some sources say 200-300 mg of DHA per day is beneficial, but I’ve also read that it’s important to be careful with the dosage and the type of supplement, especially if it contains vitamin A.

I’d love to hear your experiences! Did your midwife recommend omega-3 in early pregnancy? If so, did you take it, and which brand did you use?

Just trying to gather some insights before my midwife appointment—thanks in advance!

Hi, congrats. I take Pregnacare Plus, which includes and Omega 3 capsule. I’m high risk for preterm labour, and my consultant had no issue with me taking it when I ran it by her. Just be careful not to go over the 500mg dosage. I think the Pregnacare capsule has something like 360 in it.
