Does my babies head seem normal

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Firstly
Im not a doctor

One of my twins had similar and it was a choroid plexus cyst. Occurs in 1-2% of baby scans. I was told.
Has no effect on development or anything else and usually goes away on its own by 32 weeks into pregnancy
Suggest asking doctor to have a look and ask for an mri scan which might give you more information if they aren’t sure.

Like I say. I’m not a doctor so I’d definitely consult a professional but it’s really not something to worry about

From the limited assessment that can be made from one still picture - yes.

dammit88 · 27/03/2025 14:22

Also it looks nothing like a choroid plexus cyst and is not the right section of the head to assess for one.

LaTable · 27/03/2025 14:23

Looks fine to me?
If the sonographer hasn't contacted a doctor about it I wouldn't worry.
I compared to my dc2 (6 years old) and looks basically the same? And they have no issues

What did the sonographer say? Have you been referred for further scans?

Wasn't your scan assessed at the time?

LollyLand · 27/03/2025 14:48

Your baby will have been checked. It’s probably just the way the photo came out.

Yes that’s the head.

I think sonography’s just assume we all know what we’re looking at as they see it every day and so often don’t talk people through what’s in the image.

dammit88 · 28/03/2025 05:59

The 'white ball' area you can see is the baby's brain, it's just the way the ultrasound has caught it, it looks like a slightly off midline picture. Checking the appearance of the brain is part of the normal checks at your first trimester scan so if no concerns were raised by the sonographer I think you can have peace of mind.
