Miscarriage question

Sorry for the TMI but looking a bit of advice.

Found out I was pregnant around 3 weeks ago, estimated to be 11-13 weeks pregnant now. First scan is due next friday. Anyhow, Started bleeding very light on my Monday and ended up at the ED last night as started to cramp. Was there an hour and all went down hill. Went to the toilet and the blood just starting gushing out, I could feel thick heavy clots coming out along with just pure thin blood. Was sick and lost consciousness a couple of times also. The gushing and the thick clots just kept coming, I couldn't stand or sit without them continuing, I soaked through 3 of the maternity pads they gave me while down there.

Eventually got seen by gynae and he done a internal exam and basically said he thinks I am miscarrying as the womb was open. Couldn't say for sure as we don't know how far along I am (I have PCOS and don't get a period too often, maybe twice a year)! He was almost certain I was miscarrying and doesn't think there is any chance of there still being a heartbeat etc at the scan. I have that scan now today but the heavy bleeding and gushing has stopped, the cramping has stopped and I'm just wondering if this is normal, how long does it take for the miscarriage to pass? Does this sound 100% like a miscarriage?

I hope you're looking after yourself, it's awful ❤️

My miscarriage was a bit different (not as far gone and had first tablet got medical management) but it was basically over in a day.

I had a light bleed, went in to get checked, told I was miscarrying. Took the first tablet, went home. Next day had about 6 solid hours of bleeding and heavy clots - I stayed on the loo, was easier than moving. I thought I was going to pass out at one point. I definitely remember feeling and hearing the sac pass - it was pretty big so think if you were wearing a pad you'd definitely see it was there. After that it was a few days of lighter period bleeding.

Take care, OP ❤️

Edited

Firstly, I'm so sorry you went through that as well ❤️

I stayed on the loo too in the hospital last night for as long as I could before I was seen. It was only by chance that I started to feel dizzy that I decided to go back to the waiting room and sit there.

6 hours sounds about right for me also, maybe slightly longer. I just wasn't sure if thats all the length of time it took for the heavy bleeding and the big clots as I don't want to be walking around with them big nappy like pads on when down at the hospital later today if I can help it

Thanks for the advice 🩵

Hey,

I had something similar at 12 weeks,I had leaked through pads in the first few hours and then it suddenly stopped. I started bleeding again after a few days until 16 weeks.

when I was in a&e, they did check my cervix and my cervix was closed and on the scan they saw a SCH which caused the bleed, my 12 week scan was booked for a few days later.

when you do go into EPU or A&E I would push for a bedside scan too to see if they could see the baby heartbeat etc, this is what gave us the reassurance baby was ok.

i hope you get to see baby heartbeat at the scan today! Please look after yourself and keep us posted

Hi OP. I'm so sorry you're going through this. It's very hard. I had an MMC at in January and was scheduled for a D&C in February. Five days before my appointment I passed some myself. Like a pp, I just sat on the toilet and let it happen. It tapered off after two hours and then I had very light bleeding afterwards. I still needed the D&C as there was some tissue remaining, which I thought was the case. My situation is different in that we already knew the baby had no heartbeat but I just wanted to give my experience. I truly hope you get good news later, I've everything crossed for you x

@Paige57 Hope your scan is okay today - there's lots of us on here who have been through similar, so you aren't alone. ❤️

Hey, thanks for the response, so glad you got the reassurance your baby was okay 🥰

Unfortunately it was just confirmed to us at the scan the same as what we were told in the ED. Still some tissue so I am booked back in for next week 💔

I'm so sorry you had to go through that as well, harder when you already know your baby hadn't a heartbeat.

We didn't get the news we were hoping for and I still have some tissue remaining so they have me booked back in next week and hope it will pass itself. Ive had very little bleeding today though which seems strange.

@Paige57 I'm very sorry it was confirmed. It is absolutely devastating. I was the same. Had the big gush for a couple of hours and then very light over the next few days.

Be really good to yourself and mind yourself. Take time off work and rest x
