12 week scan

We have recently had our 12 week scan and I'm probably being that person, but I cant help but feel we were rushed through it?
With our first child, the sonographer took her time, detailing various measurements, looking at the anatomy and was generally really reassuring in every way possible.
This time around, the appointmebts were running late and the sonographer literally said, 'there's your baby, theres a leg and a hand and the brain', and that was it.
She couldnt even tell me the NT measurement verbally (i saw it on the screen).
Appointment was less than 10mins in total and I feel it wasn't a proper check?

I don't know if this is now the norm for your first scan appointment?
Should I contact my midwife for a chat? This pregnancy is going to be part consultant led (havent seen anyone yet) due to previous complications with the first pregnancy and birth if that makes any difference?
I could be worried over nothing?

Hi !
I wanted to comment on your post, as I felt the exact same with our second baby. My 12 week scan was end of Jan (I have my NHS 20week tomorrow!).

Same as you, re appts running late, no NT verbally mentioned (I also just saw on the screen and on the report given after). I came out of it a little disappointed/ upset as my experience with my first was amazing (they took more time going through things, got excited with me etc)

We decided to book a private scan at 16 weeks just to get another look at baby, and the experience was great.

I wouldn’t be worried about anything, but if you feel better talking to MW go for it or even book a private scan if that’s possible for you.

After reflecting, I think they were under pressure to just get back on track and check the boxes they needed to, the ‘nice to have’ experience wasn’t there this time for me.

best of luck with rest of your pregnancy x

Thank you for replying.

I'm sort of glad someone else felt the same as me as I wasn't sure if I was just being irrational or not.
I get that hospitals run late as you never know whats happening in the room before you, and that they have to make up the time somewhere, but I almost felt like things werent being done properly?
I could just be hormonal as well which probably isnt helping!

I might drop my midwife an email only because there is another local hospital (where I was seen before) that I think I would prefer to use if they can accommodate me.

We could absolutely book a private scan as well just for a little more reassurance.

Why not - it is worth exploring your options if makes you feel more comfortable! but I’m sure if something stood out to them that wasn’t right they would 100% follow up!

thank you!! My experience this morning was sooo much better. Had a lovely sonogrpaher who took her time and spoke us through everything she was doing.

all the best!
