I am so confused and overwhelmed with everything right now. This is the first ‘pregnant’ experience I’ve had so just looking for some advice if anyone has been in a similar position. I had a positive pregnancy test 3rd March. After I had missed several of my pills and been sick every time I drank even a little bit of alcohol (never happened before) I then had a sickness bug for a few days so didn’t retest until maybe the following week. At this point I’d had no bleeding or anything but was late on my period. I then continued to do tests over the next couple of days. Most of which were negative. I then started bleeding 15th March. Started as spotting and has varied ever since. Some days it’s just a small amount others it’s a bit more but nothing heavy heavy. But the blood can be red/pink or brown. And will sometimes be there just when I wipe, other times will be there in the toilet. I have not lost any clots or any tissue/anything that resembles a miscarriage. I have also had lower left abdominal pain off and on for the last couple of days. I had a potential positive pregnancy test yesterday and thought I could see a very faint shadow on one I did today. Still bleeding but it seems to be slowing down again.
Any advice or support would be greatly appreciated. Coming from an anxious 21 year old who would love to be pregnant but can’t get her hopes up with how confusing and emotional it has been.

Have you contacted your GP OP?

Please see your GP, who will hopefully refer you to your local Early Pregnancy Unit.
I have had successful pregnancies, miscarriages and an ectopic. The symptoms for all in those early weeks were very similar and confusing, but seeking medical advice when I started spotting probably saved my life.

I'm so sorry you are going through this, and hope you have someone in real life who will be able to support you.

I last spoke to my GP on Friday where she told me I was potentially miscarrying (this was over the phone). However she is not aware of the potential positive test I had yesterday and today. I had a blood test of HCG levels today which I don’t have the results back for yet. As I don’t have any experience with pregnancy or miscarriages/chemical pregnancies I really don’t know what’s normal or not…what are the symptoms of an ectopic? Would I know by now if I was having one?
Thankyou for commenting on this post! X

My ectopic was pain free and involved only fairly light spotting. It took about two weeks of regular HCG blood tests and scans for the consultant to decide on a course of treatment.
The only difference between the ectopic and my early miscarriages was that the ectopic spotting carried on over a longer period of time.
However, I now know that ectopic symptoms can vary widely, some are suddenly painful or involve more bleeding - so it is really good that your HCG level is being monitored.
In a miscarriage the HCG levels usually start dropping. In a healthy pregnancy they increase quite quickly and predictably. With an ectopic they rise, but much more slowly. Regular HCG testing lets them build up a picture of how your HCG levels are changing.

As this will be my first HCG blood test I won’t know if they are increasing or declining as yet. Thankyou so much for all that information and for sharing your experience xx
