IVF FET - progesterone

Hello, I wonder if anyone can help me. I had a FET yesterday and am taking Cyclogest 3x a day. However I am worried that I have not had a blood test and have been told I don’t need one. How do the clinic know my progesterone levels are high enough?

My understanding is progesterone is prescribed to everyone who has IVF.

I was on 400mg cyclogest twice a day until 12 weeks.

Thanks @Goldpanther. I’m just wondering how they can be sure I’m on the right dose though?

What dose are you on?

I was told it was a standard dose, like taking painkillers, X amount X times a day.

Me too. It's a standard dose OP. I was on it too until twelve weeks.

It's standard, and the placenta takes over at 10 weeks so some clinics stop then. With a natural transfer some clinics don't give anything.

That is what happened to me. My frozen embryo is 28 next month.

I don’t remember having bloods around ET. I think that’s normal.

Have you had a many signs of low progesterone or a history of early pregnancy loss which might mean they need to review the dose? I had lubion injections plus the standard pessaries so the dose isn't standard for all as others have said.
if it helps I had low progesterone in my day 21 blood test and had brown spotting to know my progesterone wasn't great. I also had a history of pregnancy loss so asked for my progesterone to be reviewed because of that.

if your clinic won't test and you really want to have it checked, you could try your gp or there are companies online that you can pay privately for blood tests (I don't know how much they are now and think mine was £75 about 5 years ago).

fertility network uk have a nice dedicated forum for people having treatment I always found super helpful.

My clinic did a blood test the day before transfer to ensure my levels were where they needed to be, if they weren’t they would have prescribed further medication. This was with a private clinic but our previous clinic through the nhs didn’t do this.

The dose may be standard but that doesn’t mean everyone’s levels get to where they need to be

I didn’t have any blood tests around the time of transfer either. I assume they had the information from my blood tests before we started treatment. I am on 3 x 400mg per day too and currently 6 weeks pregnant. Fingers crossed for you!
