I work in a children’s home so each day is very different, some times things can lead to physical restraining the young people to keep them and us safe,
Anyway point to my post, when would you tell work about pregnancy as I would like to keep it quiet but I think maybe I should tell them sooner so risk assessments can be put in place
any advise ?

I told my manager at 7 weeks because I was having such bad morning sickness I needed some time off.

If you want to keep it quiet from other colleagues you can just tell your manager - they are bound by confidentiality anyway - just tell them that you're not telling the wider team until later on.

You can temporarily say to colleagues that you can't do restraint for health reasons and your manager will put something in place for that. You can be vague about why until you're ready to tell colleagues (it will all make sense to them in a few weeks anyway!)
