Anyone given birth at The Rosie (Cambridge) recently?

I'm 32 weeks and starting to think about actually giving birth! If you had your baby at The Rosie recently, what was it like? I have so many random questions that keep going through my mind.

Did you have to take your own towel? Were the staff nice? Would you go back there if having another baby?

Thanks in advance.

Not recently but I had both of mine there (now 4 and 7) and it was great! Room was excellent and I was v happy with how I was treated, even though the 4yo was mid Covid so there were rules etc. You used to be able to do a visit if you asked, before giving birth. Can your midwife help with that sort of thing?

I had my little one there 18 months ago, and wasn’t overly impressed if I’m completely honest. I won’t go into too much detail, but the midwives I had were young and inexperienced (missed a couple of signs that had the potential to go very wrong) and there was poor communication and nobody listened to me. BUT that obviously hugely depends on who’s on duty that shift etc, and doesn’t reflect on the whole unit.

I had a good experience on the postnatal ward though, was looked after well. Partners were allowed to stay overnight which was nice. I brought my own towels with me. We had a visit prior and was shown around their lovely birth centre, but it’s worth keeping in mind you’re only allowed there if you have a plain-sailing pregnancy/start of labour. As soon as any small thing occurs they’ll move you up to the ward, which don’t get me wrong is completely understandable, I think I just had it in my head I was going to give birth in this lovely double bed, mood lighting, huge pool lol!

Thank you both for replying. I suppose it's down to a lot of things out of my control - what the staff are like on the day, if the birth goes smoothly, etc. I think I'll take my own towels 🤣 and will see about a visit.
Thanks again.

I had 2 babies born there. 4yo and 2yo and will be having my third there later this year. Lovely staff, although I can only comment on the csection staff (if that makes sense) as I know some specialise in it. Lovely ladies. Surgeons were surgeons. Blunt and to the point, but I think you’d get that anywhere.

hope all goes well for you x
