Need some urgent help and advice in regards to lower back/ tailbone pain - second trimester

I’ve had lower back pain, pelvic pain and swelling around the vagina for the last few weeks but the lower back pain is extreme today. It started off bearable this morning but since about 4pm this afternoon the pain has been so bad that I’ve had to stop moving and prepare myself to keep going and just work through the pain. I have pain shooting down my leg and also around to my bum. When I lay flat on the floor it’s so bad, I tried it thinking it would help but it just made the pain worse. I can’t put much pressure on my right leg at all.

I do have a toddler, he is 2.5 years and very heavy! He weighs 2 stone 6 ounces which I think is about 16 kilos, so carrying him can be difficult, lifting him in and out of his cot, the bath, picking him up etc, and then there the running around after him, tidying his toys 2/3 times a day, cleaning, all the usual mum tasks, I haven’t been taking it easy at all even been painting etc but I can’t just not do any exercise at all or do my usual daily mum tasks - but I know all of this isn’t helping and likely making it worse which is understandable.

My husband works very long hours and even travels occasionally for work and I can only get little help from my mum as she also struggles either arthritis etc so help is limited.

I wanted to ask who else has gone through this before or is going through it right now. I don’t have my physio appointment until the 22nd April which is a long time to suffer, especially as I am getting worse. I really don’t know what to do but I am only 23 weeks and can only see this getting worse :( is there anything I can do to help - rest just doesn’t seem possible if this is the answer.

I think if it were me I'd probably call triage as your pain is severe - I think bad lower back pain is one of the things the advice says is best to get checked out.

The swelling sounds very uncomfortable too! I wouldn't wait for the physio appointment when you're in this much pain. I'd go triage or if not then emergency GP appointment tomorrow.

You have my sympathy? It sounds really awful :( xx

Same as PP, get medical advice from GP/111 before physio. Have you let midwife know? Can they suggest anything else?
