Hi All,

So I am 37 weeks pregnant. I have a c section booked for week on Thursday as had previous Emergency with Son 4 years ago. As they always do at appointments they have asked about contraception afterwards.

So this is definitely my last baby and was thinking of having the coil fitted has anyone else had it done at this time? I find it strange they insert it at the point of c section but doctor said they do it all the time.

Also which coil is best the hormone one or the copper one?
Any advice help appreciated 😊

Very common to have it then. Slightly more risk of expulsion. No discomfort of insertion tho.

non hormonal biggest side effect can be heavier periods. Have you had hormonal al contraception before and how did you manage?

Yes I was on the mycrogynon pill for 12 years before I had son in 2020, I tried to go back on it after he was born but i had some strange side effects but wasn't sure if I started it too early after section.

Does the hormone one completely stop periods or does it help with lighter ones?
