Line Progression but still testing 1-2 on Clear Blue

Hi everyone,

Im looking for a bit of help. I'm currently pregnant (this is my 10th pregnancy although I only have 1 child) so the continous testing has been a problem for me. I know I shouldn't but I just can't help it. I had a Chemical Pregnancy in February so my last actual period was 20th January although I had bleeding with the chemical pregnancy on 21st February. I fell pregnant again weeks later which I didn't think was possible but anyway. I have been testing regularly and the lines have been getting darker, although I don't think they are as dark as they should be? I done a digital on 15th March which read 1-2 weeks I have done another one today and it's still reading 1-2 weeks. I had a tiny bit of bleeding last night which stopped after 10 minutes and I done a cheap strip test after this which was barely positive, I then done a stick test which came back positive which just confused me even further this is the reason I have done another digital today. I have then went and got more tests which are both giving positive results but again I feel they should be giving darker lines at this stage. Any advice would be much appreciated. Sorry it's so long. I have also taken pictures of inside the digital tests and today's does appear darker. I have also added the tests from today.

Good morning, they all look really positive and prom

Bubblenum · 22/03/2025 10:18

Good morning, they all look really positive and really promising to me..i wouldn’t worry about the clear blue digital it’s only been 1 week give it another few more days or another week and do another digital and i bet it’s gone up to 2-3 weeks. They aren’t always accurate the weeks indicator ones. your line tests are looking great and it seems things are progressing well.

GA1990 · 22/03/2025 10:21

@Bubblenum thanks Bubblenum, counting from the bleeding on 21st Feb which was advised by the early pregnancy unit I should be 4weeks 1day and I just felt as if maybe the lines should be darker and I shouldbe getting 2-3 weeks from the clear blue digital. I am just stressing myself out at this point 😩 but yeah things do look as though they are progessing so I will give it more time x

Edited

easier said than done i know as i’ve been there myself with previous losses. ile keep my fingers crossed for you & don’t forget to pop on and give us an update! :)

negomi90 · 22/03/2025 10:43

The clear blue gestation ones are banned in the USA because they're notoriously inaccurate. I learned this when I was freaking out over lack of progression on them. Said pregnancy never progressed beyond 1-2 on Clear blue and is in a buggy next to me as I type.

GA1990 · 22/03/2025 11:02

Thanks @negomi90 with my daughter I got 2-3 weeks around this time so it just worries me but I have read they can be unreliable it's more so the darkness of the other tests and getting a barely positive strip test last night after a tiny bit of bleeding but I have done 3 tests since and they are all clear positives.

I’m not going to give you false hope OP I’m sorry - I’ve had multiple losses too. How many DPO do you think you are? I can’t tell as you said a week ago you got a BFP and 1-2 weeks but you say you are only 4+1 today? If you are 4+1 today then 1-2 would be ok? It would be really unlikely that you got a 1-2 at 3+1 which you are saying was the 15th? I know people say clearblue digital are not reliable but I’ve used them a lot in conjunction with blood tests and they are more accurate than a lot of people think - I would say try again tomorrow/day after - 8 to 9 days after a 1-2 should be more than enough to move onto 2-3
if hcg doubles every 48 hours x

GA1990 · 22/03/2025 11:23

@justanothercrapbedtime that's the thing I have no idea how many dpo I am as I had got a positive result on 16th February started bleeding 21st Feb and was told it was a chemical pregnancy as I got negative results after this I then tested again on 15th March as my boobs were sore and I was quite emotional and to my surprise it was positive with 1-2 weeks i didnt think this was possible as i hadn't had a period yet but was told that is was definitelypossible, the early pregnancy unit advised me to count from the bleeding which was 21st Feb thats why I'm saying 4 weeks 1 day but I honestly don't know and why I'm also stressed about the darkness of the lines coz if I'm further on than that they should be darker x

@justanothercrapbedtime this is the digital and tests from the 15th and the other ones are in the original post so there has been progression just not what I was expecting if that makes sense x

sorry to ask but was your previous losses definitely miscarriages? And not ectopics? If you tested a week ago with 1-2 weeks if you don’t get progression onto 2-3 weeks in the next 48 hours I’d request an EPU appointment for a scan - given you history are you under a RPL clinic?

XMummyTo5X · 22/03/2025 14:29

@GA1990 if your only 4+1 then i wouldn't worry too much about the 1-2 result.. if it gives you any bit of reassurance, i have took another digital this morning and finally got my 2-3 result (im 4+4) so i would say leave it a couple of days, and test again 😊

XMummyTo5X · 22/03/2025 14:33

@GA1990 and i took apart my digital the day i got a 1-2 result (18th) and compared it to today's digital.. which their is a massive colour difference (darkness) and by looking at yours, it looks like the colour of your lines on the digital are getting darker so i have no doubt that you will get your 2-3 result in the next couple of days! goodluck to you x

angelxbellx · 22/03/2025 14:48

I had a week of very faint tests, and L drove myself absolutely mad. Eventually they got darker, by which time I had convinced myself it must be ectopic, and called epau and got a scan with them when I was 5 weeks and 3 days. All was well, thank goodness.
So things can definitely work out even when tests are taking a while to catch up. I would get yourself booked in for an early scan so you can see for sure. With my dd1, I had a scan at 4.5 weeks to make sure pregnancy was in the correct place in my uterus, so they can scan very early to check that, although more likely to see heartbeat the closer to 6 weeks you are.
Hoping you have a great outcome ❤️

GA1990 · 22/03/2025 14:54

@justanothercrapbedtime I have had 1 ectopic in 2015 with no ruptured tubes thankfully, I always get a scan between 6 and 8 weeks due to several loses so im due to get a scan in 2 weeks but I'm going to phone on Monday to ask to get blood work done as that is my fear that it is progressing but not the way it's supposed to be. X

Just to say that the bleeding accompanying the miscarriage IS a period. That's your womb lining shedding, and your cycle restarts at this point. All being well you can expect to ovulate a couple of weeks later or thereabouts. So you absolutely can get pregnant immediately after a miscarriage.

Re the clear blue digital - the weeks detector is only accurate for I think 93% of pregnancies (it says the figure on the box). So you can't rely on them. It's a waiting game unfortunately.

GA1990 · 22/03/2025 14:58

@angelxbellx thanks for the reassurance, anytime I call they say 6 weeks regardless of my history, I'm going to ask for blood work to be done just so that I can see its progressing as it should, I'm hoping I get 2-3 weeks tomorrow and I can at least relax a little knowing that it is going in the right direction x

OP posts:
justanothercrapbedtime · 22/03/2025 18:12

No rupture ectopic previously means you are significantly high risk for another and it’s entirely possible that some of your miscarriages could well have been ectopics that resolved themselves
Definitely call on Monday if you can to move up a scan?

just be careful with the blood tests - both my ruptured ectopics had perfect hcg levels doubling as they should but they were both live in that they had heartbeats which is rare

GA1990 · 23/03/2025 14:15

@justanothercrapbedtime thank u so much for all your advice it is much appreciated. I'm going to call tomorrow x

@GA1990 did you do another test today? or you leaving it a few days? x

GA1990 · 23/03/2025 17:01

Hi @XMummyTo5X I probably should have waited until tomorrow but I done another today which is still reading 1-2 but it's noticeably darker and when comparing it to other tests I have seen it seems to look like 2-3 so still confused, the other clear blue I done was also darker but going to phone in the morning and ask for bloodwork x
