Hi everyone!
I am looking to earn some money, extra pennies, during mat leave that then I could use for myself without using savings - so Im not planning/expecting to ear a lot. I have been researching a bit online but would love to know if you did do anything during mat leave to earn something and what that was?
I am fully aware the months ahead are going to be hard, so just want to at least give a go at earning some money somehow!
Thanks for the help,

Do you have a partner? They should be supporting you, rather than you having to earn more or dip into savings

Why the “should”? Not all couples have one partner who earns enough to sustain the family without savings being needed for maternity leave or additional income.

Matched betting! Look at outplayed.com

I started on maternity leave, did it on my phone as my ds would only sleep on me.

Dog walking is good.

i also made close to 1k across the year on vinted but agree it often gets recycled buying next size(s) up

Fair enough. But I know too many women who have spent their savings and had to live frugally on mat leave, while the dad carries on his full earning and not making cutbacks. So as long as OP isn't seeing mat leave as her cost and her partner is taking whatever cuts they can to support then fine. I just know this often doesn't happen sadly.

I did some KIT days with work and you can be paid for those without losing your smp. Can’t remember the exact number though it’s only something like 5 over the course of maternity that is allowed.

I also sold some bits and pieces on eBay. Was sale of my own possessions I no longer needed rather than buying things to sell to
it’s not classed as income. Thst was fairly minimal money though but abit extra

I’m allowed 10 KIT days so I don’t think it’s a blanket 5 days

check your entitlement to UC. I was amazed as I make a good wage but as my mat pay was non existent I actually was entitled to some UC which helped.

Mine was years ago so it’s possibly changed

Strategically timed KIT days for me too. It meant I never had a month with zero pay despite three "unpaid" months. Worth it if it's possible for you. Mine were all when the baby was over 8 months or so.

Would your employer pay extra for KIT days? I got my day rate on top of maternity pay on weeks I went in. Standard Mat leave allows 10 Kit day, but if you then transfer over onto Shared parental leave instead of maternity, you get another 20. I did one KIT day a week from when DS was about 2 months, and (then)DH used flexi time to work over 4 days and have one off to care for DS.
