How did you feel after stopping progesterone?

Hello,

I am due to stop taking progesterone (cyclogest) soon at the end of my first trimester and wondered how everyone else got on after stopping and if you had any side effects? I'm thinking of just stopping completely rather than tapering, I can't wait to stop them to be honest!

I've had horrendous bloating and just feel very swollen in general, but no idea if that's just the progesterone or if it's pregnancy related. Would love to hear your experiences and anything I should be aware of 😊

Both pregnancies (IVF) I felt like a new woman with a functioning brain the days after I stopped progesterone / oestrogen. Honestly it was the best. First pregancy it completely cleared up my morning sickness when I stopped. This time around was still sick for a bit but it was still a massive improvement. I stopped completely - except I sort of staggered because I somehow miscounted the days and didn't have quite enough of all my drugs so finished some before others.

Sorry to report I had no change when I stopped unlike PP. Hopefully it’s to blame for some of your symptoms though 🤞

I was on progesterone until approx 18 weeks, I didn’t notice any effects when stopping to be honest!

I felt SO much better! I think I stopped at 16 weeks, so it might just have been that sickness etc was easing off generally then anyway. It wasn't like I felt hugely different from one day to the next, but looking back that was when all my symptoms (nausea, excessive tiredness, bloating, soreness down below etc) all improved. I did a tapering reduction leading up to 16 weeks, although wasn't told to do that.
